Situated on the top of the Shangrila la hotel, this is the bar with the best view of Sydney Harbour that there is. A small bar to buy drinks from, you can stand around the bar or at a stool at the window. Or, you put you name down for a table in the next room. This we did and... More

Took a colleague from the USA here for after work drinks at 6pm. Didn't leave until 12am. Comfortable, amazing views. Amazing drinks menu and even better service. Is not a funky bar per se, but very classy. Will be back!

You can't beat a view on the 36th floor of a building in any part of the world so yes, it's a great view. I wouldn't go there on a date - far too busy, I wouldn't go there for a girls night out - far too expensive and I wouldn't go there for a fancy night out because the... More

We were keen to have a Brandy Alexander as a special occasion drink in the Blu Bar. Two drinks cost us just under $50 but the drink was not made correctly, no cream, no nutmeg garnish and filled to under two cms from the rim of glass. Most disappointed.

I've visited the Blu Bar numerous times and a few things are guaranteed; you'll have to wait for a table, pay a high price for drinks, but it's a worthwhile experience. Whether I'm impeccably dressed or looking rather unpresentable (like that time I stopped in after participating in the Colour Run) the service has always been great. Although the drinks... More

There is nothing like the views. At night time the lights and the harbour were just sensational. The drinks may have been a little expensive but it's worth it to try the view. When we first arrived there were no window seats but as soon as one became available they got us one. Definitely go have a drink after dinner... More

Although the drinks are rather expensive and the service isn't particularly quick I think it's worth checking out just for the view. We just stopped for the one drink and a bowl of chips that was all we needed.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
