Neighbourhood: Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.

Beautiful building , just don’t book a seat at the side of the venue
Went to see Henry Winkler at Sydney town hall . He was fantastic. Beautiful building with lots of original features. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would advise you to do is not book a seat on the side of the venue . Make sure you are in the middle section or in the gallery above. For the entire show I had a pole in my view . No mention of a restricted view when I booked the tickets and was charged the same price as seats that did not have a restricted view.

The Sydney Town Hall was built in 1889 and is on the State Heritage Register. It houses the chambers of the Lord Mayor of Sydney, council offices, and venues for meetings and office functions. It lies on top of part a cemetery complex. It is the largest and most ornate late 1880's building in Australia. Town Hall House behind it in Kent Street was opened in 1977.

We were so looking forward to enjoying a tour of the build only to discover that tours were discontinued as a result of restorations. Another building viewed externally, dating to 1869 and in the neoclassical architecture style and claimed to be the largest and most ornate late 19th century civic building in Australia. I guess we will have to revisit Sydney.

Sat in seat AA9, and no-one in that block could hear. I made out a couple of anecdotes, but mostly all we could make out was the delighted laughter of the audience in the main body of the space. General consensus was that those seats should not have been sold for that event.

This was a totally hip spot when I went, years ago.

Nice cool vibe, lots of pretty folks everywhere. Nice spirits and cocktails.

Then again anything cold and with a bit of alcohol would be good after getting immensely fried on the back of my legs from Bondi. Never felt cold since my legs felt like they were on fire for days. Alcohol helped to numb the pain some.

Sydney Town Hall is a real architectural beauty. It was built towards the latter part of the 19th century and is a protected building under the National Heritage List. The Sydney City Council has its headquarters there. The Hall of the building hosts many conferences and important functions from time to time. It is quite lovely inside too, not just outside. It is located in a prime position, with the Queen Victoria Building Shopping Centre, next to it, St Andrews Cathedral also next to it and Town Hall train station under it! It is definitely a must see building if you are in the city.

With the Opera House concert hall being renovated the Sydney Symphony Orchestra's home for the next two years is Sydney Town Hall. The acoustics are fantastic and you're so much closer to the orchestra. Well worth going to see a performance by the SSO while they are here. AND, the architecture and stained glass windows are superb.
