This is a very important historical site so it is worth visiting. The inside of the house is laid out as previous residents might have had it. It's a nice idea of how they would have lived but there are so many similarly presented properties in and around Sydney that I suggest you choose the ones which are of most... More

Looking at a place where our earliest settlers lived and listening to the excellent spiel about it from the guide, Harley, became an exciting trip back into the past.

We only knew about this National Trust property through advice from staff at the Old Government House. It is only a short drive away but very difficult to find with little signage. It is the site of the first land grant in Australia and played a key part in Australian history. The volunteer guides who give you the guided tour... More

This old farm house has been restored back to its former glory days and is well worth a visit . Guided tours are available or you can wander on your own. A must for the history lover.

Whilst only small, experiment Farm is well worth a visit. We have visited twice now and enjoyed glimpsing back in time thanks to the National Trust. Our guide today, Kerrie, had a wealth of background information and was very friendly and informative. It's not a hands on place for kids but still interesting for well behaved school age children.

??? Again, I'm guessing what this attraction is like. And again, I should point out that this cottage is NOT in Sydney, but in Parramatta. How can tourists hope to visit places if the location given is inaccurate? I really have no idea of when this venue is open...there was a very dilapidated sign on one of the fences which... More

Part of early history is Parramatta's oldest house. Well worth visiting to see how early pioneers lived.

Real insight into the early settlers trying to live like 'home'. Also visited Hambldon Cottage which is located on the Heritage Walk between Experiment Farm and Elizabeth Farm. A very interesting trio of properties - all with very knowledgeable guides - so enthusiastic - if you like 'living' history you coud spend all day here!

I had a fantastic experience on this intimate cottage tour at Experiment Farm Cottage. The tour was guided, the tour guide was highly knowledgeable and friendly. I learnt a lot about Australia’s first land grant and James Ruse. I also learnt about Dr. John Harris the man who sold his land to and build this beautiful cottage.
