Best Beach

Wish i still lived close. Grew up here. One of the best beaches on the northside. Just annoying you have to pay for parking when you live far away.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Sydney. Vast expanses of sandcastle-able sand. Some shallow waters for small children, surf for the bodysurfer and boarder. All in Freshwater with its great village feel

Harbord Beach has remained a little haven of peace and community in an ever-changing Sydney. With the injection of new people into the suburb, now returned to it's original name of Freshwater, the intakes are converted into locals with ease and the charm of the people who have lived there from the golden days to now. There is a charm... More

Hands down this is my favourite beach in Sydney. I don't know why, it may be memories of childhood but it's small and perfectly formed. I'm always amazed people go to Bondi when they could come over on the ferry and see the best beaches in the world on the North side.

Despite the local council installing car parking meters to the nearby car parking spots (but free parking can still be found at least one or more streets away), this beach remains my favourite beach. I strongly recommend either a picnic at sunset, a feed at either Pilu's or the Harbord Beach Club, and then a dip either before or after.... More

Less hectic than nearby Manly and a good starting point to visit all Northern Beaches localities. Alas the local Harbord Beach Hotel (aka "The Hilton") has started imposing an Amex surcharge for restaurant and bar purchases.

This beach is gorgeous so clean and not to busy when we visited. It's a family friendly place as are most beaches it was nice to see people of all ages surfing and generally having a great time. We also visited bondi beach which you have to do while in Sydney but much preferred freshwater beach. Manley beach is very... More

In between the long sandy strips of Manly, Curl Curl and Dee Why beaches sits pretty little Freshwater on Queenscliff Bay. Compared to its mighty neighbours, Freshwater is a small crescent of sand bounded by the heights of Queensclifff on the south and on the north a splendid Olympic length ocean pool. The iconic surf club, with the original heritage... More

great beach to get away from tourists, and mix with the locals. Surf is good generally busy on weekends but empty weekdays.

With a gentle (usually flat) sand bottom this is one of the safer Syney beaches, particularly for a visitor getting used to the surf. Easily accessible by bus from Manly or a short walk from Queenscliff.
