Great walk Spit Bridge to Manly

The Spit has a few fine restaurants; you can also have sailing lessons for all ages. I have done the walk many times from the Spit to Manly, but enjoy it better the other way! It... read more

This bridge is an important link between Sydney and the northern beaches area. It was opened in 1958 and is the only opening bridge on a major arterial road in NSW. You can walk across in either direction and enjoy the views over Middle Harbour and out to the heads. The bridge still opens at regular times to allow taller... More

The Spit has a few fine restaurants; you can also have sailing lessons for all ages. I have done the walk many times from the Spit to Manly, but enjoy it better the other way! It is quite a testing walk, where one needs to be reasonably fit. There are many wonderful lookouts, where one can see all the boats... More

This place has a tumultuous history but none of that is signposted here. The views of the entrance to the harbour are amazing. Good car parking, suitable for all ages. An oasis in Sydney.

We walked across this bridge close to 'rush hour' and it was one of the most dangerous things we did in Sydney. We approached the bridge from the beach below, climbing up some stairs. Although there is a walkway, shared with bicycles, we didn't feel very safe as the was a constant stream of traffic hurtling across the bridge. We... More

Took approximately 3 hours at a leisurely pace. Lots of scenic platforms along the way to enjoy the view and take photos. Also saw some Aboriginal rock art, amazing. Recommend taking a picnic.

Winding your way down across the Spit Bridge is a lovely drive made even more impressive if you time it for an opening to allow tall ships through. The water views as you cross over it are beautiful.

The Spit Bridge is a draw bridge which will be opened at certain times to let pass tall ships inside the harbour. You cross this bridge when driving from North Sydney to Manly. In the vincity of Spit Bridge there is a very nice marina with all kinds of very luxury boats.

A pleasant walk on a pleasant day. A few places to refill your water bottle, sit or take a dip. Great views of the city and Manly. I took the bus and was dropped off so that I could walk along the bridge. The driver wished me a Good Walk Mate. Very Australian!

The Spit Bridge marks the starting point of the long Manly scenic walkway and is an amazing place to start from. The bridge itself is a vehicular bridge, which is drawn up, when the yachts need to pass. One can see lovely mansions, hills and beaches from here and take in the lovely weather particularly during the spring and fall... More

Ever since authorities banned fishing from the bridge, walking across it has been a lot more pleasant. Note however that the bridge is undergoing maintenance until mid 2017, which means construction hoardings and scaffolding in some locations. Still, worth a walk over and a swim under the southern end (Mosman end - mind the current though, it can be swift... More
