We kept our Opal cards from when we visited earlier this year in February. We had about AUD$5 remaining on our still-good-Opal cards, so we simply topped-up AUD$40 each. As long as you remember to tap on & tap off every trip, you really save...More

Dirty, unreliable, people eating, people taking shoes off and putting their feet on seats in front, loud phone users, people watching videos without headphones... Whoever gives a good review on this system has never gone overseas and traveled on train/metro/subway.

Going from Newcastle to Airport - where to put your luggage!!! There are one or two compartments with luggage space but these compartments are not indicated! So you have no idea which compartment to climb into! This is not brain surgery guys...same as compartments have...More

I personally dislike the opal card system... if you currently hold a concession card and will be visiting Sydney, order it prior to departure so they can mail it out to you, otherwise you have to visit Central station as this is the ONLY Station...More

For visitors to the city this is a great way to get into town. Cheaper than an Uber or Taxi, No Traffic, and very quick. You need an Opal card to use the train, and it is a quick trip into town. Arriving at 8am...More

The trip took and hour and twenty minutes and the first leg of the trip is very scenic. You have views of Wondabyne and the Hawkesberry. The trains are quiet old and the seats not that comfy. They have two quiet carriages where must keep...More

i arrived at Sydney Airport and was told by my hotel that it would be quickest and cheaper to take a train from the airport to the City. The train was dirty, late and i felt unsafe. In Sweden, the trains are maintained and used...More

The Sydney train service is very cheap when you use an opal card (like the uk oyster and HK octopus), but the routes and signs are very confusing. They lack the clear mapping of the London Underground and seem to expect everyone to know where...More

One way train fare for a family of 2 adults and 2 children from airport to Central $67!!!! How utterly ridiculous! What a joke! It’s a 10min ride if that, appalling!

I bought a return pass from Sydney Airport to Darling Harbour for approximately $35. This allows me to travel anywhere among these limited areas for a limited amount of time without any hassles. This is quite convenient.
