The Araluen Cultural Precinct is home to some of the most significant artistic, cultural and historical experiences in Alice Springs and provides a unique visitor experience, encompassing Central Australia’s key cultural institutions and collections. In its four galleries and 500 seat theatre, the Araluen Arts Centre presents an annual program of exhibitions, theatre, and film.

The Araluen Galleries showcase the beginning and continuing development of the contemporary Aboriginal art movement, particularly of the Central and Western Desert. The Araluen Art Collection includes significant original watercolours by Albert Namatjira in his artistic response to the Central Australian landscape.

A “keeping place of stories”, the Araluen Cultural Precinct offers a rich experience set amongst important Arrernte sites significant to the local Arltyerre (Dreaming) including yaye (Big sister hill), yaye akweke (Little sister hill) and a sacred 300-year-old corkwood tree.

We had a couple of hours to spend before leaving and we where recommended this place by the touristoffice. It was really worth a visit - there was an art exhibition, two museums, a cafe and more.

Araluen Cultural Precinct has many faces - artists past and present find stimulation and satisfaction in the workshop atmosphere beside the gallery and auditorium complex, and always answer your craziest questions! The coffee and cafe food is top rate too!

We visited the Art Museum, including the Desert Mob exhibit, which was dazzling. I don't know how impressed my kids would have been with the art had that exhibit not been there. We also visited the Natural History Museum, which had a lot of information about meteorites that landed in NT. My husband liked the Aviation Museum the most. There's... More

I especially went to the see the Desert Mob exhibition and was not disappointed. The work on display was stunning. If you have the opportunity to see this then don't miss it. The staff at the gallery were also very helpful, providing information about the exhibition when you buy your ticket. One of the highlights of my visit to Alice... More

We spent several hours at the museum and visited the art gallery, the cafe and the gardens as well. There is also a tremendous shop run by artists whose works and crafts are for sale. Very high quality work at really reasonable prices. Great gifts to take home.
