Interesting part of a forgotten history. By the time it was built it was at full capacity. It had its own gallows & the last execution was 2 men who killed a taxi driver

Fanny Bay Gaol was interesting - well sign-posted and easy to take a self conducted tour - our tour guide should have been removed and someone who was actually interested in Darwin take over - she was a waste of our money and her time...More

The staff are friendly and helpful and the majority of the goal is accessible. Throughout the grounds and buildings there are some very interesting information boards. The area is well maintained and if you like your history take the time out to visit.

A fascinating insight into earlier-days prisons. The open-air kitchens contrast with the gloomy cells. The last hanging from capital punishment days was here in the gallows room with lots of interesting interpretive displays and documents.

This gaol is only open Wednesdays and Saturdays but it is free and well worth it. Old gaol with good signs explaining the various buildings. Old restored 'infirmary' scene of last hanging - very interesting as gallows still there. Time spent 60 mins.

This is a good experience of an unadorned historical location. It hasn't been done up, or sanitised in any way. The only additions are the inclusion of informative signage that is excellent. The story of the execution of the taxi driver murderers, in the Infirmary...More
