Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’ve seen a few city Botanical Gardens in my time, a lot of the wonderful, so it’s hard when you come across Gardens which aren’t necessarily bad, but are just average. That’s how I felt about the Darwin Botanical Gardens. Some areas did seem a bit unkempt and I’m need of some TLC and it was hard to find your way around due to inadequate signage. The best parts for me where the Africa/Madagascar Garden (fantastic boabab and cacti display) & Heritage Lawn which made the journey worthwhile.

After a great breakfast on the cafe verandah, we really enjoyed walking only 20 metres or so to view water spouts and stunning botanical feature gardens. Simple yet so effective with a cute bridge to walk over as well. Really pleasant

The Botanic Gardens offer a wide variety of plant types set out in various themed displays. Guided tours are available. There is also a children's playground and an entertainment amphitheatre for live music.

Bit disappointed with the upkeep of these gardens compared to most other capital cities. Ponds were filthy. Lots of debris lying around. The waterfall was small. Very hot and lot in the open. Lots of parks around the city seem to be a lot better maintained which is a shame.

A nice way to spend a few hours relaxing and walking around the gardens. Easy to find parking and then can choose a short or long walk just wandering around between the different areas. Very well kept and set up. Can find quiet spots just to relax and chill.

The George Brown Botanical Gardens are a must for those looking for a walk amongst some of the most interesting plants and local wildlife. The park open at 7am, staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and h-pay to provide comment and advise regarding the plants, flowers and animals living in the park. The cafe was nice and service was excellent as were the meals and drinks we had after our morning walk. A great morning out.

Can easily spend a few hours wandering around the gardens. Whilst there wasn’t heaps of flowers when I visited, it was still a pretty place with a variety of plants. Lots of paths so can get a bit lost which isn’t a bad thing maybe. Highly recommend the tropical juice from the cafe - probably the best I’ve ever had!

Lovely place to wonder through. Some beautiful plants. Love the wooden seat sculptures. Enjoyed the bromeliad and orchid display. Community garden looking a bit over grown, but can understand its been very wet and hot. Overall, lovely, tranquil, well kept gardens.

Fantastic gardens with a great display of plants. Some sections closed however it was at the end of the wet season so some areas quite wet and needing some attention.
However, still worth a walk around!!
Fantastic play area for kids too, shame I’m about older as it looked to be an amazing tree house!!

George Brown must have been a genius - he was the curator of these gardens post-cyclone Tracy and then as Mayor, lead the greenification of Darwin. His legacy is a world class, sprawling, well maintained gardens that are free to all. It's a great respite from the heat and can be enjoyed by all members of the family. Great to see NT and Tiwi Island native plant collections in the Woodland area. A very pleasant way to spend 2-3 hours, would highly recommend.

Hi - depending on your how long you have. There is a lot to see and 42 hectares of the Gardens. There are 2 entries - 1 is the main entry on Gardens Road closest to Eva's Café and the other at Geranium Street off the Stuart Highway. You could see the main part of the Gardens for at least 2 - 3 hours walking around. Depending on what you are interested in. If you would like more information you can contact me on 08 8999 4418 or go to our website or Facebook page.
