Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We enjoyed spending time viewing all that the mall had to offer including Smith Street at each end. All new to us, my wife in her element with the shops while I wandered viewing the architecture and monuments and enjoyed a pedicure and foot massage. We certainly parted with more money than intended but no regrets. The Mall wasn't very busy, fellow passengers from the ship seemed to outnumber other before lunchtime. Shame that the water fountain wasn't working.

Actually I like this place as it is a pesestrian Mall which means it has free flowing ventilation. There are several shops which sell good souvenirs like the Darwin gift shop and NT. There is also a decent bookshop,Darwin Bookshop which I really appreciate very much as being an avid reader. There are several eateries with reasonable prices. Nice experience.

Typical mix of shops and restaurants in an open-air, walk-through setting. I had to go there to find an eyeglasses shop for an emergency repair to my glasses and was given very kind help from a wonderful staff at the OPSM shop. She went out of her way to repair my glasses and didn't charge me for her efforts.

I've been to all the capital cities across Australia, as well as smaller towns, and for a capital this place is unfortunately uneventful and needs a revamp to rejuvenate the city area. I know COVID-19 hit, but maybe it would be a good time for some authorities to think how to rejuvenate it once the restrictions and borders are lifted, especially since it is the closest city and transit spot to Asia, and make it more attractive to not just tourists, but locals as well.

Smith Street Mall is mainly a tourist strip now to buy souvenirs. Casuarina is a huge shopping centre in the northern suburbs, and most people live in those suburbs and shop there now. There's plenty to see and do in the CBD though. Darwin is a beautiful city.

We came here on Boxing Day and it was like a ghost town. Cotton On is the only major shop here, the rest are boutiques, camping shops and souvenir shops. There are also plenty of ‘massage’ places that seem to be open 24 hours a day. There was no one around. A lot of empty shops. The NT government wonders why they are losing tourists to Bali and this is the reason. You can get a pedicure or noodles any time of the day and night there. They need to re-visit opening hours if they want to bring the tourists in. Nail places especially need to be open longer (and on Boxing and New Years Day!) if they want to entice women (and in turn their husbands).

The Mall has some nice cafes & touristy shops as well as some really good jewellery shops. It is not a large shopping mall but is worth a visit. I managed to purchase an opal pendant from the jewellers & a Darwin NT shirt for my husband from one of the tourist shops which had larger sizes & good quality material.

If you are the shop 'til you drop type, you may want to give the Mall a miss. Plenty of souvenir shops selling the same things, not a lot of food variety, you're token shops - Reject Shop, pharmacy, newsagents etc. A few lovely boutiques, mainly in mini shopping centres on the Mall but I spent the most time shopping in the Op Shop.
Tip: Don't expect a shopping Mecca
Pro:Play area for kids, the water feature the kids could play in was refreshing.
Con: Tacky souvenirs shops and being humbugged (bothered) for loose change.

Plenty of verity in the closed off shopping area. Close to all hotels in the CBD. Pretty much whatever you need for shopping and souvenir places

Visited a few times during my stay in Darwin, used it more as a thorough fare to go somewhere else, always seemed deserted and a bit neglected.
