Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We were walking around the building looking at the architecture and noticed there was a sign for tours in less than an hour so we signed up. You are not allowed to take photos but in one place and the lobby so can only see the actual parliament chambers. It was interesting tour and was only 45 min, somewhat rushed. Didn’t see any thing that was secret to not take photos and have taken photos of way more secret areas in other places and countries.

When I looked at the photo of all the parliament officials I asked if Australia was most all white government and that made the white female guide very uneasy. The photo is all white out of 250-ish people but she explained how there was a native person and some person with bloodline of something … I’m white … she was white … did not mean to make her uncomfortable but clearly it was a touchy subject!

The last couple of years we have tried to get in here and have a look around. Well this year we made it and it was great. The building is gorgeous and the staff/volunteers were very friendly and helpful on where to go and fitting us in on tours.
If you get the chance, visit this lovely building.

This is only the second Parliament House I have been in the other being sydney.
Just my luck according to an extremely friendly security guard parliament was sitting that day and I could go up to the gallery and watch.
Once through the security proceedings I was upstairs in an amazing old building.
The proceedings were actually interesting to watch all the comings and goings on the floor below.
Security is tight so be prepared your only an observer not a participant.

I'm a politics junkie - visiting legislatures is a must for me on all trips. The Queensland Parliament has a design and feel familiar to most of the Australian state legiuslatures - lots of stone and wood work, rich carpets and paintings and a sense of history.
The tour begins in the annexe building - not the original building. It takes in the formal lawn courtyard, the entrance, former Legislative Council chamber and the Legislative Assembly chamber, the library and the office building behind.
The staff are very friendly and sociable.
There are souvenirs on display but no one seemed to be selling them. I would have liked to be able to buy some postcards, especially as photography is limited.
The tour involves stairs but I understand there are elevators.

Always wanted to go inside and Open House Brisbane gave me the opportunity. It was fantastic and the arrows sent us in the right direction. Loads to see and read. Lots of volunteers to help with the odd question. Did find the building a little dark and gloomy!

I was in awe of this beautiful sandstone building with it's restoration of our heritage both inside and out. Check the web site for parliament sittings otherwise free tours 1,2,3,4 pm. Entry through the Parliamentary Annexe building. Easy walking distance from the Brisbane CBD. We could easily have spent more time there but unfortunately the tours are only 1/2 hr. High tea is also on offer. There are other sights to see nearby plus the Botanical gardens.

Beautiful classic building standing tall near Brisbane's Botanical Gardens it highlights the history and forming of Brisbane as an independent colony from New South Wales. It is a beautiful building which has to be adored in a nice shiny day ot get glimpses of it's intricate architectural features and shear size.

Proceeding inside you see a wonderful grand building and the tour of it is highly recommended!

Prior to visiting this fine City, I had read about the public tour of the Parliament House so I decided to take advantage of seeing this part of history. Be prepared that photo identification is required to enter the building and no back packs are allowed. But they do have places they will store the pack packs while on tour, which I appreciated with no fee involved. They were doing a lot of construction at the time of my visit so a lot of the areas I did not get to see. But that is all in to my timing. The tour guide was informative and showed me the garden area which was lovely along with the chickens.
I would definitely take advantage of the tour when the construction has been completed.

We heard about High Tea at Parliament House, Brisbane.

It was Brilliant. Will do again!

Booking - easy, there are limited places, so book in advance. They followed up with emails for confirmation, spot on service so far.

Parking - nil parking available, we caught the Free City Loop Bus service (40) from Anzac Square, so easy to walk from the George St Bus Stop to the front of the Parliamentary Annexe (Don't go to Parliament House proper on arrival), once you enter the Parliamentary Annexe, you pass through security and then they take you back into Parliament House proper for your High Tea experience.

There is bit of time taken up getting from the entrance to the Parliamentary Annexe, through security, to pick up your visitor badge, to sign in, then you're escorted up in a lift, across a cat walk to the most beautiful room! As you enter, the decor is really breathtaking, and the day we were there, a small string duo were playing Christmas carols.

It only got better!

Once we were seated the juice,tea/coffee and champagne came out, not long after, the High Tea came rolling out, The service was excellent and there were many waiters for the number of people in the room (I estimate max capacity is 40 to 50) I counted eight wait staff.

The time went really fast for us, then they ask who would like to stay for the tour of the Parliament House, this was really well organised too.

Great day out, they cater for Gluten Free. I had four in my party and it was $188 pay on the day.

Highly recommend.

Well organised and informative tour. Noticed the sign on the walk back from the Botanic Garden. Through security, signed in, visitor tag. Tour guide was great, could answer the many questions that the group asked. Well worth a look.
