Snorkeling at Michaelmas Cay is safe environment for novice and an interesting experience for the seasoned snorkeler. Many different corals and fish are to be found here as well as turtles. We took the semi-submersible ride first then went to the Cay to snorkel. On the Cay were hundreds of nesting Black Noddys with a sprinkling of Brown Boobys and... More

The water clarity was perfect. I didn't get to shore just snorkelled around the reef. The coral and marine life enjoyable.

Some of the better coral I've seen along the reef, seemingly much healthier. Had a really good swim here, sighting many beautiful fish and even two turtles! The beach itself is pristine and I would definitely recommend a visit, perhaps through a tour from cairns.

Beautiful underwater views. We did an introductory scuba dive at this location, but I wish we had done more snorkeling as I think we would have seen more. We felt that Hastings Reef was much more clear and bright, but this may have just been due to our location for scuba diving.

A great spot to snorkle the great barrier reef, not a sun bathing location. Lots of birds, as part of sanctuary, they can be noisey and smelly. go for the reef not the beach.

The reef is magnificent, the island is consumed by birds. Stick to the snorkelling or diving. A ,omg way from Cairns but worth every minute.
