Kuranda Scenic Railway is the original scenic rail journey to Kuranda. This spectacular experience travels over bridges and through tunnels hand-made by North Queensland's pioneers over 100 years ago. Traversing the World Heritage listed rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park, this is one of the world's great railway journeys.

The trip takes about an hour and a half with one short stop. The narration was quite good. I would definitely recommend!

We opted for the Gold Class trip, which was well worth the extra money for the comfort and the service. We ordered a vegetarian option for our on board snacks, and was told that we would be served vegetarian spring rolls - unfortunately these were...More

We took the Scenic Railway from Kuranda to Freshwater Station. The views of Barron Falls and Barron Gorge were quite spectacular. The trip was booked online as part of a package.

We loved our trip down the mountain on this amazing train. The views are just so amazing and the history and effort of building it is something to be admired. This is one we will all remember!

We caught the train in Cairns. It was a slow but interesting journey up to Kuranda with breathtaking scenery, tunnels and waterfalls to enjoy. Then a bus takes you into Kuranda to shop.

We drove up to Kuranda and we know it was closed. Near the station where the Barron Falls. Lot of crew was working on the railway to get it work again. Waiting for re-opening

We had to do #skyrail there and back. Train not running due to recent rain fall . I'm really bad with heights but was ok. Best to sit forward facing. All staff lovely. Nice markets in karunda

I've done it twice and have enjoyed it both times. Definitely can't see a third time being on the agenda as it's only 'good', not mind blowing. Too expensive.

This was a great trip. The history of the area was very interesting and some of the scenery from the train was awesome. I really enjoyed this activity and so did the kids.
