Train ride up was nice and relaxing with plenty to see. Kuranda village is a great place to explore with many market stalls and wildlife attractions to see(highly recommend the bird enclosure). On the way home the sky rail provides a different view of the vast rainforest that covers this area and a quite ride back down the mountain!

We took the Kuranda Scenic Railway Gold Class from Smithfield to Kuranda and it was a very relaxing 90 minutes. Excellent service in the Gold Class cabin with food, drinks & a souvenir to take home. Great way for us & the kids to learn about the history of how the railway was built as well as a little bit... More

Lots of history as you head up the side of the mountain. This was a great one way trip up-we took the sky rail back down.

We thought it was a bit expensive, but after going on it from Freshwater station it was so worth it. The waterfalls were in full fall due to heavy rains and looked magnificent. What a wonderful way to travel to Kuranda I would recommend this to everyone, a must see .

I had a ticket from the sky rail to the train. It wasnt clear to me that you had to exchange your sky rail ticket to a train ticket and you are allocated a carriage and seat on the train. Water coolers are in each carriage, i had a glass of water from this dispencer and it serverly upset my... More

The train went through the rainforest floor. There was not much to see except when the train went through cuttings, where I didn't have much opportunity to take photos.

We went to Kuranda by train and went back by skyrail. The Central station was closed when we arrived in the morning. We were confused and wandering around before finally found the ticket counter on the other side. There should be signs because there are few other confused tourists too. The train is exciting initially but soon we felt bored... More

This was an awesome way to travel into the mountainous area. The train was comfortable and I enjoyed the stops. It was great as we had our own row and I had my eyes out the window the entire time. It was beautiful!! It's a great way to spend the morning. The actual tourist area is rather boring, but it's... More

There's load to choose from in and around Cairns and this is well worth doing. A combination of scenic train ride, in a vintage train and visit to Koranda then cable car over the rainforest, or you can do the trip in reverse. Worth booking the Diamond package for the extra service and benefits. A good and relaxing mix of... More

The 90 minute scenic train ride from Freshwater to Kuranda takes through the rainforest to Kuranda. During the ride you'll learn about the railway and see some spectacular scenery. There is one stop where you can get out and look at the waterfall. Great to pair with the SkyRail.
