To get there you have to travel up Hervey Range Road from Thuringowa Central, past the suburbs of Rangewood and Rupertswood to find Piper's Lookout near the top of the Range. The views are really stunning out there, especially when the sun goes down. The bushland below Hervey Range looks awesome, the ocean likewise. Lovely!

This is a fair way out of town, heading out along Harvey's Range Road. It does give you an idea of the vastness of the area. This is another road out to Charters Towers. If you keep driving out of town, past this lookout, you come to the Heritage Tea rooms. A great place on a hot day. It is usually... More

On a clear day, you can see for miles; including the sights around Townsville. Just up the track there is a heritage homestead where you can sample high tea and other sumptuous fair.

If heading up or down the range this lookout is an easy stop. Beautiful views out over the valley to the ocean and is just stunning if the region has had a bit of rain.

Beautiful surroundings, authentic heritage experience, lovely food. Good service. Quiche a little too salty for me but well priced and very tasty. Partner enjoyed his steak sandwich.

Good views of Townsville can be had from here. If you're in this vicinity, try the Hervey's Range Heritage Tea Rooms. The house is of historical importance. They serve great tea and coffee and home made cakes, scones and apple pie. If you're an arty type, the craft shop will be right up your alley.

Piper's Lookout looking out over the western approach to the city of Townsville is a great spot just to take into perspective the native bush surrounding Townsville. This photo stop is a must for the snap happy visitors to the near-by Heritage Tea Rooms. Piper's Lookout is about 30 klm on the western highway towards the Charters Towers to Greenvale... More

Worth stopping off for a photo opportunity on a clear day as the view is great. There is nothing there except for car parking for about 5-6 cars. If you head up the range then stop in and then keep going to the Heritage Tearooms for a cuppa & scone
