There are three botanic gardens in Townsville and this is the only one you can drive through and find picnic tables. The vegetation is from the dry tropics and there are some garden displays from arid regions of the world, including America, Africa, Asia and...More

Lovely gardens with lots of areas for picnic spots. Shame there are no toilets in this park however. Duck pond attracts the children.

We drove through here and liked it so much we came back with some takeaway food and had lunch in a shady corner. Lovely extensive parkland set off by a large Bombax in full flower and crawling with every kind of parrot and honey-eater.

Small compact escape a couple of blocks north of the Strand. Was quiet and cool when we visited and small enough to explore in under an hour

Plenty of shady spots to relax and unwind. We spent some time in the Tropical Fruit section, most not in season but an interesting variety. Conservatory on open very limited hour which was a shame.

All very attractive and well maintained - but astonishing that the largest if Townsville's 3 botanic gardens doesn't have a single toilet!!
