Over 72 hours I tasted about 80 different wines throughout the Clare Valley and discovered a place different to my expectations. With the new road it's quicker and easier to drive from Adelaide: only a little longer than to the Barossa Valley. Possible to "do the Clare" in a long day, but better overnight and best over 3–7 days. In... More

Don't miss this terrific small but important wine growing area of South Australia. The drive to the Valley from the south is pretty and easy without too much traffic, a bonus for those with caravans. The town itself has a good range of shops and some good restaurants. The real interest is in the myriad of wineries to visit, small... More

We booked the Riesling Trail Cottages and they were the best!!!! Lovely, private with everything you could possible need. As we were an adult family and friends group, we had 3 cottages booked (1, 2 and 3 bedroom) and we were able to use one of the bbq areas for a big breakfast. Also suitable for families with younger and... More

Excellent holiday destination. Good accomodation of varied kinds, caravan park, hotels, motels, BnB etc, good eating at restaurants, hotels, cafes and lots of wineries to visit and sample the wares. Shopping is also excellent. Lovely place to live, too

We come here every time we visit Wellington and the food is some of the best Indian food we have had and the service is impeccable. I would highly recommend coming here for dinner.

Lovely drive up through the Gilbert valley, roads not to bad, the girls had a plan to visit certain wineries, their are so many to choose from, you need a plan. We called ahead to book with so many negative responses we could not believe it, don't come, we only have tours between nine and ten,and some did not even... More

Returning to the Clare Valley after about 15 years suggested that businesses had become more aware of the value of the area's heritage. Old buildings seemed to have been rescued rather than allowed to crumble. Along with some pleasant gardens and rolling hills covered in vines and grains, the atmosphere was very relaxing, making a two day stay well worth... More

Spent 3 days on the Riesling Trail in the lovely Clare Valley during September. Stayed at St Helen's B n B, which we can highly recommend for comfort, quality and quantity of the cheese platter we ordered which came with a complimentary bottle of St Helen's own wine, and the terrific breakfast provisions supplied. St Helen's is right on the... More

The Clare Valley is more than a great wine area its a an area steeped in Australian history both natural and man made. The old rail track has been turned into a walk track that is a great short or long walk depending on your requirements and cuts its way thru vineyards and old building areas. Not far from Burra... Took mountain bikes from Auburn to Clare (24km). Mostly a gradual climb for the first 15km passing through many wineries. Lunch in Clare before the mostly downhill return cycle. Called in Sevenhill and O'Leary Walker to sample the reislings and many other grapes. A great day out!
