I have now ticked this off my list, I was surprised that it was not harder, it was in very good condition, however it would be tough going and dangerous in the wet. There is a lot of history along the track that make it...More

If you have travelled broader horizons or overseas to scenic picturesque mountainous/hilly green parts of the world, or even desert game parks in Africa and if that is your idea of a holiday...dont bother with this drive. We read with utter disbelief, in the Hema...More

This is about the journey.... It's not a technically difficult drive and the track is well maintained, but 4WD STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Be well prepared and organise your gear carefully. Safe and suitable for the relatively inexperienced. Beautiful remote scenery, quirky stopovers and tough remote towns....More

Just completed the track from west (Marla) to east (Marree) and had a ball. The track was mostly dry but had rained and been closed the week before. The highlight was the Pink Roadhouse staff that were super friendly, the Milkshakes the best I had...More

The Oodnadatta track is well worth the dirt road. So many spots and sights to see along the way. It is the long way to SA from NSW but worth the detour

we've read many comments on how a 4WD is necessary. while we can see the need for it if it has just rained (as the roads supposedly become muddy and slippery after even the smallest of showers), we think a 2WD should be able to...More

Was very excited for this track however at the time we travelled it was nothing more then a gravel road. Lots of good stop offs however, and the Pink road house is a great place to top up on supplies

I only drove the section Marla > Oodnadatta (and came back via the Painted Desert), but this end of the track is in excellent condition. In totally dry conditions it would be possible in a 2wd (preferably with front-wheel drive). Take some spares though -...More

A must-do trip in Australia, we spent 4 days to enjoy it, plus 2 extra nights at Arckaringa. As South Aussies it was great to see the far north of our state. Saw some 2WDs, do-able but looked dodgy after a bit of rain, easier...More
