Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Interesting little church to visit. It's now the catholic church but used to be where many denominations celebrated prior to other churches being built. It's underground- or in the hill and is in the shape of a cross. It's quite a small church and still has some services on the weekends.

I didn't catch on fire when I went in so that's a good sign I guess. Cute little church with picture-worthy things around the place. Worth a stop in to have a look.

Not far from the center of Coober Pedy is one of unique underground churches of this amazing town - St Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Quite incredible, a bit understated and so Coober Pedian! Large parking, simple entrance, beautiful interior. This church is a typical dugout, nicely decorated.
The church is open and inviting. Turn the lights on when you walk in.

We visited this church for mass on a weekday morning and it was very special. I church is beautifully built and the colours in the interior are rich and warm. you can see that the parishioners love the church by the way it is kept and it has a very special feel about it. The priest was very welcoming and mess was lovely.

An incredible place that hasn't changed much since I was last here 43 years ago. I was a child the last time I visited with my Mum, Dad and brother so I didn't appreciate then the incredible amount of work needed to create this underground church. My brother and I visited during a trip to Australia to retrace our childhood footsteps and retake photos our Dad had taken. This is an oasis of calm and serenity. A very moving place, so glad we were able to spend some time here.

Forget the religious aspect, go and have a look even if your not religious simply because you are there and get a feel for how the locals live, work & worship in this part of the country underground.

Another beautiful example of living and worshipping in an underground structure which again highlights such an amazing and ancient land.

Just like a Catholic Church but underground. Very well done and well worth a visit. The map was a bit confusing but it is in the Main Street.

I love this little church which was carved out of the earth by the opal miners of Coober Pedy in the 1960s. It is still a simple church, the simplicity is striking and meaningful as the church is made by the people for the people. You don’t need to have much time to visit this church as it is only little and easily found on the main road of Coober Pedy,
