A worthwhile experience to appreciate the hard conditions, including limited space, the miners had to cope with. Includes an old underground home display.

An interesting look at opal mining in Coober Pedy. A little long winded but good. The caves are the most interesting part. Lots of opals to choose from for purchase from $50 to $100000

Had a wonderful tour around the old timers mine. Allow a couple of hours to read all the exhibits and take plenty of photos. Some parts can be a tight squeeze but adds to the experience. You will wear a hard hat for safety

A must do in Coober Pedy. A great experience of early mining through to modern mining techniques. Opals clearly visible throughout the mine. Excellent display of the history of Coober Pedy as well.

We all loved walking through the actual mine. The old timers mine held our 4 year olds interest for a short while but then she wanted to rush through some of the other parts i.e. viewing how they have lived/live underground. You can take as...More
