Kangaroos are considered pests in Australia! So why have an Orphanage where they fatten them up ready to be culled! Or is this to help sell their Art work! Talking to the manager who looks after these little Roos they are released into a Sanctuary, do they really stay there are to they hop of ready for the next cull.... More

Josephine’s Gallery & Kangaroo Orphanage was a short walk from the tourist park we were staying at in Coober Pedy so we had to stop in. We were there at the noon feeding and being able to cuddle and pet the orphaned and rescued roos was delightful, some of them are so tiny!! It was a lot of fun for... More

The visit here was part of a tour. First, we had half an hour to browse through the artwork, then, we could feed the kangaroos. The highlight was watching the little joey being fed and hoping around. Incredibly cute.

Make sure you get there early as they lock the doors when they take you to see the kangaroos, the gallery has some beautiful indigenous artwork and the kangaroos were so friendly. I am amazed and how much love goes into looking after these baby kangaroos when they come in to them. Amazing job, worth a visit make sure you... More

We visited the gallery, and were surprised to find the owners feeding a tiny baby kangaroo. They care for and raise many orphaned animals whose mum gets hit on the road, often driving 9 hours to Pt. Augusta to the closest vet if required. ( very selfless and caring people) The gallery is great too with some amazing art works,... More

Some really great local indigenous art, nice opals, and interesting facts about Kangaroos and what happens after they are rescued.

We attended the late afternoon feeding and enjoyed listening to the volunteers tell us the life history and prospects of each kangaroo. We were able to feed and pat the kangaroos through the fence and the kids were thrilled. It was great to see the volunteers so passionate about the work they are doing to help animals. The feedings are... More

We went for the 12 o'clock kangaroo feeding experience. It was lovely to get up close and personal to some red kangaroos and to see a 6 month old joey. Terry is very relaxed and informative about his mob.
