This is a smallish church built into one of the hills. It's a lovely little place, cool and peaceful. I liked the fact it was very local and quite 'hand made' - local timber to make the cross, recycled mining equipment and timber to make the alter etc. It's well worth a visit.

A really different place to visit in as much as a church is not usually a tourist destination but this one is worth a look. Our kids also found it interesting. It's not a place you would stay for hours but you'll kick yourself if you have the opportunity and don't go.

Worth a visit as very unique. They just ask for a donation to look around. Very friendly couple running the church when we were there and they showed us around their underground accommodation as well. Nice to know it really is in use!

There are three underground churches in Coober Pedy, this is one of them, just behind the Underground Motel.

It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was interesting to take a look. It is something different and good to know they are helping other communities.

This is a smaller underground church but its simplicity and unique altar, cross etc makes it well worth a look, a multi denominational place of worship. Donations appreciated

We visited two other underground churches and was impressed how well they looked inside. Unlike any other church I have seen, Barrie & Judy NZ

We were greeted by a church member who gave us a very interesting talk on the history of the Church and Coober Pedy, plus an insight into the building of the church. She took some fun photos of us.

This delightful church is unique and beautiful. It has a wonderful relaxing vibe and you feel like you want to just "hang out" there for a while. The female minister we met was interesting and friendly and told us the history of the church. She took a photo of us - you'll have to go to find out why the... More
