- emmabW4251HK22 contributionsWonderful!!We had the perfect day for this and enjoyed it so much. Our main focus was seeing the seals and we sure did do that. The whole family love seeing the baby seals swimming in their pools and we got to see them from not very far away as well. They were absolutely adorable and I loved the fact that humans couldn’t harm them. Admirals arch was very impressive and was actually home to many sleeping seals. The walk down was lovely seeing the enchanting views and beautiful wild flowers. I highly recommend this for animal people and families.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 September 2023
- Rochelle FRandolph, New Jersey1,138 contributionsGreat viewing of ocean and fur sealsA must do in Flinders Chase National park on the island when visiting. There is a boardwalk which takes you down to view the seals. We viewed the fur seals on the rocks, then walked to the end (they are doing constructions to bolster the walkway) so not all the way down) but you can still see the beautiful Arch.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 April 2024
- Teresa NMedowie, Australia1,432 contributionsSTUNNING VIEWSThis is another place not to be missed. Located in the Flinders Chase National Park, a short drive further on from the Remarkable Rocks is Admirals Arch. This is a natural arch created by the forces of nature. From the car park you walk along a boardwalk with stunning views along the way which leads to a platform overlooking the arch. On my visit the arch was undergoing some maintenance, so it was a bit hard to get a good look from the small platform. I went mid-morning and there were already a lot of people there, so best to go early or later in the day to avoid the crowds. Also, you have to pay for parking wherever you are in the park, so you can purchase your ticket online or at the visitor information centre on the day.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 May 2024
- Dennis PMelbourne, Australia2,238 contributionsMAGNIFICENT VIEWS AND MAGNIFICENT NATURAL CAVEAdmirals arch, one of the Islands major tourist attractions, is at the western end of the island, about 110 km from where we were staying in Kingscote, Or about 160K from Perrinshaw where the ferry arrives. The trip down to the attraction was somewhaty boring. There was very little to see but scrub lining the road on either side, and agricultural land beyond that with a few sheep. There was quite a lot of road kill along the way, kangaroos, wallabies and other smaller furry animals. We never saw an alive wild creature On reaching the area, we found a magnificent walkway with chrome stainless steel handrails and a reconstituted rubberised footpath leading down towards the water, a distance of about 400 to 500 m. Every bend of that path exposed the sun twinkling on the waters and small waves gently washed over the rocks below. It would’ve been even more fantastic had there been big waves. At the bottom of the walkway there was a sharp turn left which exposed the Admirals Arch. Admirals Arch is a natural rock arch created by the forces of nature. This arch is composed of a huge cave through the rocks which has been created over many many years by sand wind and waves. It is quite spectacular and probably worth the trip down here on its own. On the way down the walkway there are plenty of seals to be seal lounging on the rocksVisited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 June 2024
- Benny HBrisbane, Australia132 contributionsExtraordinarily Breathtaking View! Worth the Journey! The road to Kangaroo Island is a long one. But the trip was worth it with the exhilarating view of the Admirals Arch on the western side of Kangaro Island. There were so many wild life along the way but also a number of road kills :(. At the Arch, there was a number of seal just chilling out on the rocks and it's quiet amazing seeing them in the wild and quite close from the viewing platforms. The view was picturesque and the experience was exhilaring to say the least!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 July 2024
- Michelle REngadine, Australia398 contributionsLOVELY VIEWSThis is a great site with a long boardwalk all the way down to an amazing lookout where you can see fur seals basking in the sun on the rocks below. We saw many down there with their little pups. Then you turn around and there is this amazing view of the Admirals Arch. Unfortunately while we were there the workers had it closed off as they were building a new lookout platform but we still could see through the Arch and got some lovely pictures. They have done a great job since the fires in rebuilding the boardwalk and structures around the area so visitors can take advantage of the beautiful views.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 July 2024

The boardwalk and on going upgrades are making the experience better for all. Unfortunatley the day I visited the weather was ordinary. wet n windy. So windy infact you really could not proceed down to the view the arch way, without being blowen off the walkway. Wonder if on days were the weather is ordinary as it was, Admirals Arch should possibly be closed for safety reasons

As other reviews have said, this place has the wow factor. One of the few places in Flinders Chase that the fires didn’t reach. Watch for the wildlife frolicking in pounding seas and the gorgeous views. The boardwalk is good for walking but might be a little tricky with wind or rain. Then there are several steps down to the actual Arch. Fantastic views but watch your footing!

Easy parking, phenomenal views. The boardwalk was quickly reinstated after the 2020 fires and provides a safe and accessible path down to the arch. The views are wonderful and the NZ fur seals are delightful to watch on the way down. The arch itself is majestic and provides excellent photo opportunities. Must see of any trip to the island.

It was a rough windy day and the surf was crashing over the rocks quite spectacularly. The Arch itself is quite unique, but the seals and surrounding coastal cliffs are equally worth the visit. You need to buy a National Park pass but this is easily done online beforehand. Some stunning views across the landscape too as you drive between the Parks office and the lighthouse.

The Arch itself is very cool to see, and worth the trip, but even more interesting is the Fur Seal colony. We watched the pups sliding down worn grooves in the rocks, playing in the water, chasing each other across rocks, and feeding. Admittedly, we didn't stop in at Seal Bay to make a comparison, mostly because after everything we saw here we didn't feel we needed to. Lots of effort has been put into creating a safe and easy boardwalk for access.

Hi!
I would like to reach too the Admiral Arch and the Remarkable Rock but I don't understand how to get there.
Where I have to park the car and start walking? And how long the walk is?
Thank you!

Pay at the Flinders park visitors centre and they give you a map. You then drive to several car parks and take short walks to the sights. Allow about 2 hours to see all.
