A Tourist Information Service is generally available when the tourists are in town but this one closed at 2.00 PM and directed vistors to the Elizabeth Street Hub that was open until 4.00 PM but avoided saying that it did not open until January 18 when the tourists had left for home. Someone in the place who manages these things was not thinking or does not care. We did go inside at a different time and the information available was limited. Nice building and color however--when it is open.

Hi Oldjack, Thank you for sharing your feedback. Our sincere apologies for not being able to cater to your requests on that occasion. Like many organizations, ours has been affected by Covid-19 and we were running limited hours during your visit. Our Mall Hub on Elizabeth Street currently is open till 4pm, where as our Main Visitor Centre on Davey Street is only open till 3pm. We are hoping this changes when our borders open this December. Our staff are passionate and genuine and I am sorry on this occasion we did not deliver the service we strive to. We hope to be of assistance on your next visit to Tasmania. Although this reply is delayed, we are always looking to improve our service and I am happy to speak with you directly. Wishing you a wonderful day!

We are touring Tasmania for 3 weeks and called in today to ask for some advice. The manager and staff were excellent and we left with loads of great advice that perfectly matched our interests. We now have maps, leaflets, a parks pass and book of walks and everything we need for a fabulous holiday - just hope the weather continues to be as good as the staff!!

Children given last request for final day in Hobart.
“See a Tassie Devil”. As unsure dropped into Info centre
and customer service advised ZooDoo or Bonorong
located out near Richmond.
Similar costs for family entrY but chose Bonorong as more a rescue sanctuary than tourist focused ZooDoo.
Plenty of brochures and maps inside the Centre.

Hi DrGreyhound, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad you got the family to go out and see the Tasmanian Devils. Their populations as you know have been dwindling due to the deadly facial tumour. Parks & Wildlife has been working hard to protect them and have a long standing program: https://dpipwe.tas.gov.au/wildlife-management/save-the-tasmanian-devil-program Bonorong are wonderful and do a lot of wildlife rescue training programs to help preserve the local wildlife, so we are happy you got to see them. We are hopeful that populations will recover :) At the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre, we have a very knowledgeable and passionate team of locals who have traveled the length and breadth of the state and share their experiences with visitors. We hope to have you and your family back with us and are happy to design a fun family itinerary for you.

I went to the Centre and met a gentleman who was the manager when he was walking around helping customers. ADI, has developed and excellent crew, who have a broad knowledge of Tasmania, he advanced various options to us as to what, where and how to do in Hobart, which we were using as a base. We went back to our unit and discussed what we wanted to do, based on the information that we had been given. The following day we went back to the Centre to seek some clarification on a couple of matters and again ran across ADI, who was again working on the floor. After further discussion, we left it all to him and his team they booked the car hire, trips, cruise etc, we just paid for same. I appreciated the efforts of the staff at the time as they were very busy, there was a Cruise ship in for some of the days we were there, combined with the Wooden boat festival. I could not fault the Management and Staff of the Travel Centre. EXCELLENT JOB.

Hi ybreh, Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience at the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre. It was a pleasure serving you on this occasion. We are always looking to share the best of Tassie with visitors to the centre based on their preferences. We are quite blesssed to have a little bit of everything here in Tasmania from fresh produce like oysters and cheese to beautiful Pinot Noirs, from chef hatted restaurants to national parks and historic sites. Yes, we do have wild weather from time to time but that can be expected when being located in the Roaring 40s :) I am glad you had a great trip and again we are very appreciative of your kind words. Wishing you a restful Sunday! Warm regards, Adi Munshi Manager

Very friendly helpful staff. Lots of brochures and information available but make sure you speak to the staff as some tours & timetables have been impacted by COVID.
We wanted to go by bus up to Mt Wellington but didn’t realise it wasn’t going as frequently as usual. They were able to book another operator for us at short notice. They also recommended travelling by public bus to Richmond & provided a timetable for that service. This was a great, cheap option for us and we enjoyed a leisurely day there.

This Tourist Information Office is well located on the corner of Davey and Elizabeth Streets, not far from the waterfront and diagonally opposite Franklin Square.

Office was well stocked with a wide range of Tasmanian made and sourced goods including Salamanca Markets jute shopping bags. Strangely we had been unable to buy these bags at the Markets themselves and were advised by some of the Market staff to come to the Tourist Information Centre - thank you.

Staff were also quite helpful.

This appeared also to be the starting point for the big red double decker open top hop on hop off bus.

Hi westy54, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are quite privileged to be located close to the waterfront and city centre shopping area. This allows visitors to come by and soak in all the Tasmanian travel related information they may require. We work very closely with the Salamanca Markets and the Salamanca jute shopping bags tend to be quite a hit, so we are happy to stock them :) Not only does the Red Decker tour leave from outside our centre, but several other tours including the Hobart Historic tour leaves from here. We also have a Travel Hub located at Elizabeth Street in the Mall, so if you're back feel free to stop by there. It is decorated with some fantastic aboriginal art. Needless to say you're always welcome back at our main centre on Davey Street. Please feel free to contact us prior to your next visit and we will happy to book in tours and accommodation for you. Have a wonderful day!

Our Tasmanian trip has been in the planning since June 2020 and I first had dealings with Tracey who arranged accommodation bookings, gave me positive and constructive advice on my selections and provided great information brochures on Tasmania's attractions. With Covid, we had deferments, cancellations, rebookings, etc. Tracey had a career change and Rosie took charge of our affairs. We finally arrived on March 14th for a 35 day holiday. First stop the Information Centre to thank the ladies for an outstanding effort on our behalf with all the rescheduling and to make some additional tour bookings, etc. Lovely ladies, an enthusiastic team, both my wife and I appreciated the assistance, advice and knowledgeable suggestions. Extensive array of brochures, maps and other literature available at the Centre plus a great selection if giftware and souvenirs. Kudos, you are a remarkable team.

Hi Dan L, Thank you for taking the time to share feedback on your experience at the Travel Centre. Off the bat, apologies for the delay in responding. We are glad you finally made it to Tassie and the team was able to assist you. Rosie is a powerhouse of Tassie travel information and I am happy she was able to assist. We are glad you liked the offerings at the centre. We are constantly looking to improve and your feedback is appreciated. The team as you rightly mentioned is remarkable and what I believe makes them that way is that they are authentic, friendly and knowledgeable sharing local tips and insight into what makes Tasmania a unique and beautiful place to visit. Again thanks for your kinds words and wishing you a great day. Warm regards, Adi & The Team

Great staff who are knowledgeable, willing to help and genuinely friendly. We visited the team twice to ask for advice and information on tours and they did a great job to ensure we made the most of our stay in Hobart. Good range of souvenirs to boot.
