Hobart Convict Penitentiary was an interesting place to spend time and made more so by our guide Sebastian. He brought the history of the prison, the chapel and the personalities who passed their time there alive. Ten out of ten!!

Worth Finding this one. We found this tour informative and helps give another insight into the Convict experience. Then there is the prison / Court house side of it as well.

I loved learning about Tasmania's convict past. This tour was well worth it and will be a highlight of my trip. Even caused me to buy a book about the Convict shipments to learn more.

We stumbled across this site while walking around the streets of Hobart. We booked a tour on-line and visited the site the following day. Sandra was our guide, she had an amazing amount of knowledge and told the story of the penitentiary with humor and...More

Sebastian and Mark made an extra special effort to create an authentic ghost tour that in darkness made my spine shiver more than once. Highly recommended

A great experience in the old convict penitentiary or "Tench" as it's known. It puts into sounds and pictures the stories of many of the convicts and gives you a feel for their experiences. Great experience!

We did a tour and followed it up with the Pandemonium 'film'. We had an amazing afternoon. Our tween/teen kids loved it all, and it sparked more history conversations/research for them. Very informative and enjoyable.

Roger took my husband and I on the tour. We learnt so much about the building, the convicts, the chapel and court. The solitary cell and the execution area were so interesting, informative, evoked a lot of emotion also but highly recommend doing this tour,...More

I'm so sorry I'm not sure. There are a few prisons I understand in different locations. I have to think the cruise line would offer at least one of the prison tours. Probably best be sure and ask them directly.
