This forest is worth going to at least once, especially when there's some snow on the plants. It's only a short walk to the waterfall; going any further gets a bit hairy.

You are quickly surrounded by damp, moist forest and yes myrtles, which change colour in the autumn. Also a place famous for its fungi.

After driving through the Weldborough pass, we decided to stop and go on the Myrtle Forest Walk through the rainforest. It is such a magnificent rainforest and you feel very refreshed after the walk.

I have done this walk a few times, a little uphill in some spots but an easy walk and the falls are great after I prefer the wall autumn/spring.

Myrtle forest is one of those off the beaten track delights that more locals than tourists take advantage of. Great for kids and older people too, the walk isn't particularly arduous.
