We visited the Myrtle Falls while visiting the Hobart area. A lovely drive from Glenorchy through the valley on a narrow road. No dramas for the kids 6 & 7 to walk there. Was a lovely walk through a tropical setting with the creek running along most of the walking track. Well worth the drive out IMO.

This is such a little fairy adventure. Short or long, you can choose how far you walk up past the waterfall. Delightful drive through Collinsvale winding up through fern laden roads to a beautifully quiet forest haven. Pack the egg and lettuce sambos, a thermos and get yourselves out for the day.

Only about a 20 minute drive out of town on your way of sorts to Mt Wellington and it is certainly worth a stopover. Not very popular with tourists the walk offers a great opportunity to get away from it all and enjoy the serenity and unsurpassed beauty of nature. Especially good after rain.

Short easy walk along the track to the Falls - a small but pretty Waterfall. Best time would be to see it after rain for more effect.

Knock yourself out, travel up Old Farm Road . . . then walk into Myrtle Forest Track . . . less than an hour up ~400m of climbing trail to Junction Cabin . . . then back down. It'll be sure to relax you, calm you and make you feel at one with nature.

We went to Tassie and we saw this and after it rained the waterfall was very heavy and it was nice to see. We were very close and it was hard to find without GPS. It was a lovely walk and it was very quiet Recommend this to anyone visiting Hobart.

The waterfall is a great waterfall but the forest wins the show. Lots of moss, ferns and running water makes this area almost a scene from the lord of the rings. But it was not easy to find, I put in 2 Myrtle forest falls Rd into the GPS and still struggled, we got lucky by driving along Springdale Rd... More

This place is well worth visiting. It is a little difficult to find. Tassie Tourism didn't know were it was! It is located behind Mt Wellington reached by heading towards Glenorchy. We used our SatNav and set 1 Wellington Road into it. This worked well, apart from it cutting out close to our destination. Once you are in the hills,... More

Access is from Collinsvale. A road becomes a bush track which can be used to access Collins Cap and Collins Bonnet after several hours of steep walking. Track deteriorates after 30 minutes walk. If you don't have much time, better to access Mt Wellington tracks from Ferntree which is closer to the city.
