Built on an artistic whim for Jane, Lady Franklin, in 1841 this imitation Doric temple in sandstone is called Ancanthe, Vale of Flowers, and sit incongruously in a small valley beneath Mount Wellington. Well worth a visit followed by a walk back along a rivulet.

A worthwhile little detour to visit an interesting old building with an interesting history. An art exhibition was on at the time and worth the time to have a look at. Volunteers were helpful.

A must to see for those with an interest in the Franklins and Tasmanian colonial history. The exhibitions that are held there are also sometimes quite good.

Lady Jane's greek (I can't remember the correct term, but building of some specific type). It looks like a temple, contains a lovely gallery, and is surrounded by walks and picnic spots.
