Get the hell away from Salamanca Place and go see where the locals shop, eat and hang on the weekend. There's a divine sweetie shop, a fantastic bookshop and a movie theater. You could spend a whole day getting lost on this one little strip. Fun.

The location of fantastic, great value restaurants close to the city. There is also an amazing lolly shop to end all lolly shops, The Renown, definitely worth a visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. Great bookshop, State Theatre? I think, with attached coffee shop. Awesome funky op shop. Wander around and enjoy!

Huge variety of restaurants in a small area with lots to choose from for every taste and budget. Also a few cute gift/specialty stores.

While originally disappointed to not find accommodation in Hobart, staying in North Hobart was a blessing in disguise. So many amazing places to eat and window shop. Loved being so close to so many eateries.

I was actually staying (regrettably) in West Hobart but would make a regular journey to North Hobart, they have a great selection of restaurants, especially "Tickled Red Smokehouse". The owner's such a friendly guy and services good quality food.

A great place to go for lunch or dinner. Could this be the Lygon Street of Hobart? There is a wide range of restaurants and also three hotels that have good "pub grub". There is also a good range of places for breakfast or a mid-morning coffee. My particular favourite for coffee / breakfast / lunch is Providence Cafe at... More

North Hobart has a great vibe, plenty of cafes, hotels and restaurants. The State Theatre is a terrific old cinema. A true foodies precinct.

Great restaurants and cafés along both sides of Elizabeth Street running for two blocks. If you can't find something you like here you're not trying! All cuisines covered.
