Greeted by & chatted away with friendly barman. I ordered a drink. The barman then suggested a very nice "local" version that was on tap, (which, incidentally, you can buy anywhere in Australia), but conveniently forgot to mention that the tap version was almost double...More

Has some very good live bands if you like rock genres; smelly place though ( urine/smoke/crowded). Good venue for Hot August Jazz Festival though when it attracts different patronage. Open air bar out the back can be good on a hot night for a big...More

We regularly visited the pub once for dinner and at other times for a drink after dinner. Great service and a good way to meet the locals.

The dishes were nothing extraordinary to comment. But the serve was large and the prices were comparatively, reasonable. It is a lively ambience being a bar people talking loudly. We liked the pana cotta dessert.

We originally attempted to visit the Winston up the road....way too crowded, noisy and trendy a crowd for this little black duck. I had heard the Republic also had pub good food. Walked down the road and entered the somewhat ugly art-deco building. What a...More

Chose the Republic Bar & Cafe as we were meeting friends and it was conveniently located. It was a good choice. The place was relaxed, lively, mixed-age clientèle, friendly staff and the food was very good. Then we were treated to some live music -...More

I like this place..it's got a good selection of gigs on all the time. I just wish they would have a better craft beer selection to match the eclectic vibe! Pizza and chips were average. I'd like to try some other stuff to really ascertain...More
