We had a wonderful tailored 4 hour tour on our first morning in Melbourne. Kathy did us a mash up of the Tasters, Laneways and Street Art tours, as well as weaving the history of the city in and out of all the discussions. We learnt a lot and came away infected with Kathy's enthusiasm. Strongly recommended. Thank you Kathy!

Went on the Taste of Melbourne Walking Tour on Friday 13th January and had Kathy as our guide. It was a wonderful and different way to learn a little more of the history of this lovely city through the culinary culture of the immigrants who came here and made it their home. We had a fantastic tour with some yummy... More

My daughter and I had a really enjoyable time whilst on a quick visit to Melbourne from Perth having booked a Laneways tour with San Khoo as our guide. Had a great time with our guide Kathy as she explained the history and architecture of Melbourne. I learned a lot and it was wonderful to see Melbourne through the lens of Miss Fisher's TV series. It helps that we ended with a fantabulous gin cocktail as well! Thanks Kathy for being so kind and thoughtful.

The tour started with a bit of history of Australia. Then we headed to see the many different laneways. San was a very good guide and very knowledgeable. You can tell he loves his job. My tour included lunch. Maker sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Loved this walking tour of some of the amazing inner city lanes of my home city. San was a a fantastic guide, full of historical details, but also right up with the current stuff as well. Easy paced (just as well on a stinking hot day!) and inclusive of all participants.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
