This tour involved going to a restaurant for a meal which consisted of bread and dips, salads/vegetables, a large meat platter, Turkish delights and tea or coffee. After the meal we visited 2 stores then a pastry shop. At each venue there was some commentary on aspects of Turkish history, the cuisine and their way of life. The tour guide,... More

We received a Red Balloon voucher and decided to use it at the Sydney Rd Brunswick, Foodie Trails Turkish food experience. We arrived at 803 Sydney Rd. and plenty of parking available. 4 couples met our guide at the edge of the car park and headed, the Alasya Turkish restaurant after a short walk down Sydney Rd. Food was unbelievable,... More

We used red balloon gift vouchers from our lovely family and friends to do Foodie Trails Turkish food tour. Much to our bitter disappointment!! This was an uninspired visit to 2 restaurants and an uncomfortable pop-in to 2 supermarkets. Not at all what was promised. No spice market, no pide, no pilaf and no history. Lots of falsehoods and generalisations.... More

We enjoyed this experience that not only filled us with delicious Turkish foods but also gave some background history of Turkey, opportunity to learn about spices and other aspects of dishes presented.

I did this tour back in November 2015 (Turkish tour in Brunswick) and found Himanshi to be an excellent host, very friendly and gave some great insights into the local community, and into how the food was prepared and cooked. I found those to be very informative, and we had a massive feed of delicious food! She provided some brochures... More

Sorry but this class was terrible!!!! The presenter was flustered and disorganized, forgot ingedients, swore when she found out she forgot things, demonstrated recipes that flopped and were altered but still flopped. Class was way overcrowded, 4 people to one chopping board, Only hands on experience was to make rice paper rolls and pancakes, the rest was precooked before the... More

Rather disappointing. Only went to one grocer and didn't get much info from the guide here. Then went straight to the first (Sudanise) restaurant at 11.45am. From there we went to the 2nd (Ethiopian) restaurant via a couple of shops that had nothing to do with food. One sold bling and the other sold hair extensions! Whilst the food at... More

Our host was very knowledgeable and friendly, making this educational tour fun too. A great history lesson, and very useful cooking tips were just a small part of what we got out of this tour. Great food provided too.

We met in Brunswick and had a little walk to our first stop - a great Turkish restaurant. Himanshi was able to give us a bit of history then came the serious eating. All the food was delicious and the plates just kept on coming. No one left hungry! Really good range of Turkish delights. We then wandered around a... More
