I enjoyed the Hockney exhibit and the Viktor and Rolf Fashion Exhibit, which was way out there. This large gallery is impressive, however I was surprised that there was no allocation to indigenous art. As well, while there is a significant presentation of European and Asian arts, I didn't see any works of Australian artists. It might be better to... More

Delightful gallery showcasing Australian art and worlwide art. When we were there, there was an excellent David Hockney exhibition.

We had an hour-long guided tour here and it was fab! Jill was our guide and she was clever, articulate and very friendly. She guided us through all the main (free) collections, telling us a little about one artwork per gallery. The Dutch masters stood out for me as a favourite - and don't bother with the lower cafe, it's... More

The David Hockney Present exhibition was on, which added star quality, but there's always something big on here.

We visited the gallery again recently after many years and were delighted. We saw the Hockney exhibition first and were particularly impressed with the use of technology that allowed us to see the painting as it was created and different brush strokes were used to create the whole. It was also fascinating to see certain scenes painted in different seasons.... More

We ducked in to have a look at the John Olsen exhibition that's one. Was really well curated and the gallery itself is stunning visually!

Loved this museum, especially the temporary exhibit of David Hockney. We walked from our hotel but you could take the free city tram to a spot about a five minute walk to the museum

Worth a visit when you have more time to spare and be aware that admission exhibits are for those interested in those sponsored displays

Wish that I had had more time to visit this wonderful gallery. The water feature at the entrance is wonderful . I visited the Hockney exhibition but didn't have time for anything else sadly. If you like Hockney, the exhibition is a must. Great gift shop too.
