I think I need to adjust my expectations. Having seen so many iconic museums around the world, ours just don't seem to match up. Sure, it's well constructed, well laid out, with good coverage of some local history. I really liked the colonial homestead, and the dinosaurs. But the brain/emotions section was out of place. How is that a museum... More

Loved the World War II Letter exhibit, gave insight into another human cost of the war. Great exhibits that was different from what Im used to, and the gift shop had some interesting bits and pieces. As always, pack your own lunch the cafe was so overpriced and only offered the basics. I teamed up the museum with a visit... More

Wow, what a great place to bring our little ones. I wish we had something like this in Norway. The children will have a great time! A must do while in Melbourne with young children.

I went there on my first day of exploring Melbourne. We saw it was 14$ but when we wanted to pay she asked if we where students. Yes we are but forgot our schoolpass. But we could enter for free! really nice! The museum was so big and so much different expositions. Really nice to visit! Explore nature, animals, history.

This place might be more fun for kids but not so much for adults. The "First People" exhibition was the only thing that held my interest. It's good to know about their history and nothing was sugar coated or fabricated. The rest was okay but I've seen better museums. Good thing though, it was free for students and also, like... More

We have traveled around the world and been to museums everywhere, and this is one of the best. Not quite the Smithsonian, but it was very unique and very well displayed. The 3-D experience was outstanding, the history was well done, and the fact that is was setup for both adults and young people was remarkable. Not advertised, but if... More

Good value for money but go when you are feeling fresh as we were tired from walking when we got there and possibly did not make the most of it.

There is a great selection of animal around the world, not only from Australia, very interesting. However I was disappointed for the aboriginal exhibition, I expected to learn sth more about their culture and history but very poor explanations.

The Melbourne museum is a must see, hubby and I spent many hours wondering around, unfortunately the animal wing was closed off the day we went which we have decided we will have to return to see. There is a great mix of things to see and learn about here. From dinosaurs to Melbourne history, and the building itself is... More
