Wattle Park, Melbourne: Address, Phone Number, Wattle Park Reviews: 4/5

About
Wattle Park is a popular metropolitan park that has a blend of historic buildings, picnic grounds, recreational facilities and natural bush spread over 55 hectares. Huge gum trees, wattles, seasonal wildflowers and ponds are all significant features. Wattle Park is an excellent location for a variety of activities from jogging to bird watching, golf to cricket. Meet for a picnic or barbecue and in the warmer months you may see the Melbourne Tramways Band playing on a Sunday afternoon. The beautiful historic Wattle Park Chalet, a quaint European-style establishment built in 1928. The Chalet, popular for functions, is set among exotic trees and sweeping lawns. For a great escape within the suburbs, this is the place to visit. Despite the urban surroundings of Wattle Park, there's also a surprising diversity of flora and fauna within its boundaries. Children can even enjoy being a tram conductor in one of the old trams. The nine hole public golf course is a lovely setting to practice your swing. There are also three tennis courts. Visit the filtration ponds alongside Damper Creek and see ducks and frogs amongst the native rushes. Immerse yourself in the history and nature of the park. Wattle Park is on Riversdale Rd Burwood. Vehicle access is from Riversdale Rd. Enter by foot from Riversdale Rd, Warrigal Rd, Patterson Ave or Elgar Rd. Tram 70 stops near the park entrance. The toilets and most paths in the park are accessible for visitors with limited mobility.

Local Park
Jun 2021
During the current Covid-19 lockdown in Melbourne, travel is restricted. My wife and I decided to visit this local park (within a few kilometers from our house) to walk for exercise, fresh air and sunshine.

This is a relatively large park with over 55 hectares of land. We were here on a Tuesday afternoon, so there were very few people in the park, which is nice. Easy to find a car parking spot.

Large multi-use park
Oct 2019 • Solo
Formerly a day-trip destination for the tram in the early days of Melbourne, Wattle Park is a large multi-use park. For walkers/joggers, it has gravel and dirt tracks through bushland preserve. For kids, it has two old trams and an adventure playground. It has an oval, Chalet and picnic facilities, and adjoins a small public golf course. Good destination for a walk and to let the kids off the leash for a couple of hours.

Once you step into this park you immediately feel at peace, whether walking or running along the pathway. sitting at the restaurant or just watching a tennis match.

Golf
Jul 2019 • Solo
Local course, mid to low quality fairways and greens. Played here multiple times, can be very very busy with no course restrictions on numbers. Slow play a massive issue. Not sure if school holidays but kids wandering all over the course and playing on fairways, some Asian lady in golf cart flying between then was an eye opener, no course management at all. Second tee has been under repair for what seems an eternity, makes this par 5 an easy birdie. $17.50 for 9 holes is expensive for the course. Would l recommend, yes if desperate, few courses around with similar price that present better. Driver can stay in the car, but is dealing with winter well and no water in course. Go and play is you just want to hit balls.

Delightful at any time of the year, especially winter when the golden Wattle flowers. Lots of space to walk, play with the dog. Public golf course, kids playground and parking.

Came here to visit the Wattle Park Chalet. Popular wedding venue. Surrounded by a spacious and fun playground with old trams, picnic facilities with bbqs and sports oval. Also nearby golf course, walking paths and Lone Pine memorial tree. Plenty of car parking. Oasis in the 'burbs!!

Weird area of Melbourne
Feb 2019 • Couples
We booked an Airbnb next to Wattle park. The park itself is fine- nice quiet walking paths and a sports field. Couple of tennis courts and a cottage. There aren’t many interesting shops or places to eat/drink around. One good thing- the 70 tram ends at wattle park and goes straight downtown. With a lot of stops. But it makes it easy to navigate. The university is nearby which has a few cool things. We didn’t like the flat we got in Melbourne but are willing to try again someday. The arts center area downtown was great and we’d love to see the Aussie open tennis tournament.

So much more than a park. It features a classy golf course, two quirky W class tram picnic shelters, a Lone Pine memorial tree and a fantastic playground

On top of this it has the Wattle Park Chalet that is a popular wedding venue

Awesome park
Oct 2018 • Solo
Awesome park for a walk on a sunny day. Old trams near the park good to see how they were built and to sit and relax inside and think about how they drive them back in the day. Plenty of shade and bbqs and lots of seats around the track to rest if need be.
