My wife and I joined a tour of the house. Inside the house the rooms were very well preserved and it was interesting to look at things in the rooms. But the guide we had tried too hard to explain as much as possible about each room and the different people who lived there. The house was not all that... More

We had this majestic homestead renovated back in 1996 when Jeff Kennett was premier but appears that we are letting it slip back to another forgotten basket case. Its in dire straights for a paint job, Timber crumbling in posts, Eaves that have suffered water damage, paths around actual building cracked and lifting, fountains that don't work, And that only... We arrived at Como house on Sunday to be told their house tours were already sold out due to only 15 people being allowed in at a time .We said we were here for next weekend and they said that all house tours were cancelled next week as they were staging a vintage clothing sale ,so dissapointing as were the... We went on a guided tour of Como Historic House and really enjoyed it. Our tour guide was Jess and she was very informative. It was very interesting to see how the upper classes lived in the early settlement of Melbourne. I also was impressed in the respect given to the original land owners the Kulin nation. I would recommend... More

It was a great way to enjoy 2-3 hours. Cafe in the stables and a great garden to stroll around the tour was highly informative and was just long enough. I would recommend this to anyone interested in Melbourne or colonial history.

If you are interested in architecture and history of grand homestead in Melbourne you must not miss Como Historic House and Garden. I visited Como House some time ago and still have fond memories to see how rich Melbournians live over a centuries ago.

We were lucky enough to visit while the Paris to Provence festival was on and what a treat. We were nicely surprised to find each room of the house had a guide to give you their special take on the particular room you were in, very interesting story on one of the bedrooms windows, the original graffiti you could say,... It has been many, many years (+ 30) since this writer visited. The Paris to Provence Fair coincided with City2Sea event last weekend and ever so pleased to have visited. The house is fascinating (check out the old kitchen and be grateful for modern appliances); the gardens are lovely. It is an easy tram ride with a couple of stops... More

The Stables Cafe in the grounds of Como House is a lovely place to go for good coffee, delicious cakes and light plates at Lunchtime. Service is always friendly and in the main efficient. There is no need to pay for entry to Como House and Garden if you just want to pop in for something to eat. There is... More

A little bit of country in the city. The gardens here provide a lovely retreat just a short walk from the wonderful shopping strip of Torak.
