Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Treasury Gardens date from the mid 19th century, making them amongst the oldest gardens in Melbourne. The gardens are in the goverental precinct, near the Parliament of Victoria. The Treasury Gardens are often seen to be overshadowed by the nearby Fitzroy Gardens, but they have their own quiet charm. City workers can often be seen eating their lunch on the lawn.

This is right next to Fitzroy Gardens. They are both worth a visit. Seeing these and the small museum of Melbourne history in the basement of the Old Treasury Building nearby made for a relaxing few hours following a day at the Open.

These gardens are bordered by Spring Street, the old Treasury building in Treasury Place, Wellington Parade and Lansdowne Street. The larger Fitzroy Gardens are on the other side of Lansdowne Street.
Whilst smaller than Fitzroy Gardens, they offer the visitor a quiet and tranquil space with lots of grass areas, a water pond with fountains, lovely garden beds and marvellous tree lined pathways.
There are a couple of statues as well at several of the entrances including one of Sir William John Clarke and Robert Burns.

A popular park where you’ll find many of the city workers come here to eat and relax during lunchtime. The park is currently going through some renovations so some parts are sectioned off. There’s parking around the park at $2.20 am hour, 4 hours max. There’s a toilet on one side of the park, plenty of park benches and drinking water. Would love to see some more flowers on display like what Fitzroy Gardens have, and cause it’s the closest to the city it can get crowded but I’m being nit-picky. Gorgeous park when the suns out.

On Melbourne's hot days, the green lawns and huge shade trees of the Gardens are a welcome relief. The duck ponds are filled with very tame ducks (looking for hand feeding). It is a great place for a picnic or just resting on the lawns in the cool.

Treasury Gardens adjoin the Old Treasury Building. A large stand of well-grown Moreton Bay Figs add character to the Gardens. The Gardens have some notable features, including a statue of Sir William "Big" Clarke Bart., said to be the wealthiest man in the colony during the Victorian era. He is notable for having being created a Batonet, one of the few Australians to have been elevated to the hereditary peerage. Of more recent constructtion is the Victorian Emergency Services Memorial, built to commemorate those men and women who sacrificed their lives serving the community. It is an attractive feature, well worth inspecting if you are in the area. Often, visitors pass through Treasury Gardens quickly on their way to the better-known Fitzroy Gardens. Many city workers linger here over their lunch-time sandwiches.

The Treasury Gardens are less well-known than the nearby Fitzroy Gardens, but have many interesting features. Named for its proximity to the old Treasury building, the gardens have a number of memorials and statues, including a memorial to Victorian Emergency Services personnel, who died in the line of duty. The Treasury Gardens rolling lawns and well-tended flower beds makes it a favourite background for wedding photos,

Treasury Gardens are part of a series of gardens in Melbourne, some of which are Fitzroy Gardens, Flagstaff Gardens, Carlton, King's Domain and the Botanical Gardens. They are beautifully landscaped and are heritage listed. They feature a number of sculptures, lovely flower gardens, water features and other areas. They date to the mid-19th century and were named after the old Treasury building which is opposite.

Treasury Gardens is in the heart of the ciity, south east of the CBD, adjoining the Parliament of Victoria. Its main feature is the avenues of mature European trees. It has several memorials, including John F Kennedy and Robbie Burns, the Scottish bard. Of interest is the statue of Sir William Clarke (Bart), one of the few Australians elevated to the hereditary peerage. Recently, the Gardens have played host to the Victorian Emergency Services Memorial. Treasury Gardens border the Fitzroy Gardens, which are probably better known. Treasury Gardens is one of the city's oldest open spaces, dating from the mid 19th century.

Treasury Gardens is named after being located next to the Victoria and Commonwealth Government Treasury Buildings.
There is so much history and much to learn about from the many staues, including former Victorian Premier John Cain etc.
Located an easy few minutes walk from the city, it is a ver nice spot to sit and reflect back on the past whilst the modern skyscrapers are present in the background.

What is the beautiful tree with deep pink/red bell shaped flowers in Treasury Gardens?
Written 25 January 2017
It is likely that it is a Flame Tree - however it would be easier to identify with a picture.
