Free parking. Such a sad place, but very peaceful. Interesting that there is a headstone for an English man there. Also worthwhile finding out why there are so many black headstones with lots of Chinese characters engraved instead of Japanese characters.

This is a picturesque and moving cemetery however not much time required unless you can read Japanese

It was interesting to learn about how a lot of those poor souls died in hurricanes, the cemetery itself is very well kept and presented but everything is written in Japanese therefore we didn't understand a lot of it.

The Japanese played such a big role in the pearling history in Broome it would be wrong not to at least stroll through this site.

The gravestones date well back in time and are a moving reminder of the pearl industry and how harsh it was for the divers. That includes the indigenous people of Broome as well. The cemetery is well maintained now, although it once fell into disrepair...More

It's a sad story knowing all these people died searching for pearls. Is it a must-see in Broome? I don't know... If you don't know what to do, you can visit this.

As far a cemeteries go this one is well maintained and interesting from a cultural point of view with it's connection with the pearling industry in Broome. Well kept and maintained by the Japanese community now calling Australia home.

Reading the plaque at the entrance was extremely moving as it made me consider the fragility of life. The plaque talked about how many pearl divers died on a a couple of single days when there were cyclones in the area. If you want to...More
