From the establishment of the first cemetery in 1829 to the closure of the seven cemeteries in 1899 almost all of the people who died in Perth, from the wealthy and prominent to the poor or unknown, were buried here.

Why anyone decided to add the cemetery as a tourist attraction baffles me. Yes there are some very old graves and headstones in here, but have some respect for the deceased - it's not a tourist attraction, it's a place for the deceased to rest...More

Thank you for your feedback. We open the Cemeteries as an attraction for visitors to offer a unique opportunity to explore Perth’s early years. The headstones tell stories of bravery, tragedy, illness and accident; of success and suffering, in the Swan River Colony.

the city of perth would have had quite a gem here had they looked after it or organised volonteres to do so. its dry burnt grass to the knee, nothing like the picture provided. don't bother with wasting your time here
