Toured the mint and learned about the history of the gold rush in WA. Mint built on 1899 and continues in service today for over 118 years. Fascinating to see liquid gold pouring into mold and quickly cool to gold bar in minutes. In 2011 the Mint created the world's largest, heaviest and most valuable gold coin, made of 1,012... More

We arrived when it opened at 9am and wandered around the ground floor. Then at 9.30 went on the guided tour. The young man who was our guide spoke clearly and I'm sorry I didn't get his name but, well done. It was really informative and we even saw the melting of gold into a bar.

It was an interesting tour, although felt there could be more to it. Felt this may have been slightly over hyped for what it was.The video part was very general and not necessary. There was slightly more emphasis on buying touristy stuff and left to your own devices to look through museum. Making of the gold bar was a nice... More

Hi there Thanks for taking the time to write a review about The Perth Mint. Many people around the world have no idea where gold comes from or why it is so special and the multimedia video is purposely built to introduce the precious metal and to give a snapshot of its early influence across the world. The heritage talk... More

The Mint doesn't Mint coin currency any longer. It does put on a very interesting, unique and memorable tour. This is one of those tourist sites you really have to see yourself. Words can't adequately describe the one tonne gold coin or seeing an ingot moulded in front of you.

Hi there Thanks for taking the time to write a review about The Perth Mint. For much of the period 1899 to 1984, The Perth Mint manufactured circulating coinage, from sovereigns to 1 and 2 cent coins. Today we specialise in non-circulating precious metal coins for collectors and investors. Our coins, which feature designs of iconic Australian wildlife and other... More

When you walk into the Perth Mint you can't help but think about the family that first settled there and how they lived. The gold poor tour and exhibition is amazing and the jewellery is to die for.

The tour is very informative and it is like a briefing about the history of gold rush. Impressed with the arrangement of the tour.

Our tour guide was very interesting and knowledgable. We learnt a lot about the history of Australia's currency, as well as being able to view some of the staff checking the new coins for any faults. What a tedious job. Their eyesight must be fantastic. You could weigh yourself, and a calculator told you how much your weight was worth... More
