Located on Hay Street (near the corner to King Street) it is easy to include the small theatre into your shopping or sight-seeing tour. The first thing you'll learn is that it is apparently one of only two theatres of HIS Majesty due to the fact of having been built during King Edward's reign as opposed to the many others... More

We came across this beautiful building when exploring on our first evening in Perth, and returned the next morning in the hope of securing tickets for an evening performance. Unfortunately the timing of our short visit to Perth was just too early for the Fringe, so we had to content ourselves with just admiring the great building instead,

Being our very first trip to a theatre, I don't have a lot to compare to but the theatre looked very regal and well kept. The staff were very efficient with finding our tickets and also pointing us in the right direction/level to find our seats and there were plenty of staff to do this. We were there for a... More

His Majesty's Theatre is housed in a stunning Edwardian architectural building & is listed as a State heritage icon. There are numerous shows throughout the year with regular Opera & Ballet concerts. The Barre Lounge cafe located on the street level is an excellent choice for catching up with friends for coffee.

What a hidden gem. Intimate style entertainment with a bar and light meals to order pre show. Very enjoyable.

A small theatre. Scenically in the Outback. Funny and characterful sets and excellent costumes. Sunny with corrugated sheet sheep and convivial cattle. The cast was fine - especially Nemorino and Dulcamara. The tradition of Joan Sutherland haunts Austr;alia. The American Rachelle Durkin was proper but the boys kept it on. Meaningful, hilarious fresh and the orchestra too. The theater was... More

Love an evening out at Downstairs at the Maj - an intimate cabaret experience with a variety of shows suitable to this venue. It has tables, most with excellent view of the stage, where you can have a drink and small meals while watching the show. You can come early and enjoy the company of your friends and stay after... His Majesty's Theatre in Perth (constructed 1902-1904) has been beautifully restored to its former glory and is a spacious and comfortable performance space in the heart of Perth. The imposing Edwardian building is listed as a State Heritage Icon. Volunteers provide free guided tours which are both informative and interesting and are highly recommended.

I believe the acoustics are better than the Sydney Opera House. I know the team there manage sur-titles for opera far better than they do in Melbourne. I would choose His Maj in Perth anytime but sometimes have to travel for shows which miss Perth

Was fortunate to go on the Grand Historical Tour of His Majesty's last Thursday. A fun 2 hours was spent with actor turned theatre historian Ivan King telling the stories of the theatre and the many personalities that have featured there. He was very entertaining. Getting to go up on stage, then visit the dressing rooms was a highlight.
