Queens Wharf

About

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Place is cute but wasn’t what I expected. Thought it would be a wharf with lots of shops and food options like in San Francisco, Sydney, or Seattle. But here is vague and limited. So found it kind of disappointing.

Queens Wharf is located at the end of lower Queen Street, a place which was developed at 2010 after sold to Auckland Regional Council for the purpose of special events places during Rugby World Cup 2011. Now there are two significant buildings, The Cloud as the new modern architectural beautiful building as the replacement of Shed 11, and the remaining Shed 10 which usually to be used as a temporary gate for international visitors coming to Auckland by large cruise ships. Really nice to see the horizon and the water from here, Devonport, Northshore, Rangitoto Island, and Harbour Bridge at the distances from this wharf. It is lovely open space with free entry, plenty of benches, fishing place, leisure walks, and very close to the Ferry Terminal and Ferry Building, a place for everyone to enjoy Auckland Downtown and Water Front. Visit here with public transport, only 50m from Britomart Train Station, much better than using private car which really difficult and expensive for parking here.

I just pass by here to walk to the restaurant around 10 mins from Stamford hotel which is quite near, and I saw the most beautiful sunset here, it is amazing. You can have the nice sea view and some yacht is parking here. Quiet and there are some people taking picture nearby also, I would recommend you come over here. Since it got nice restaurant just around the corner and nice ocean view, I’m pretty sure you could get some great pictures in this spot.

This is a lovely place to wander around and feel the atmosphere of the city, with views looking back into the central area of Auckland. If only the weather had been a bit better...

Our cruise ship was parked here, the proximity to the CBD, was excellent, we just walked off the ship, (we hate tenders, boats or buses), the area is well serve, and very popular.

Queen’s Wharf was very clean, wide and open and is only one street away from Auckland’s CBD – couldn’t have been any closer. So handy to cruise liners. Our cruise liner was berthed at Shed 10 and we had a bird’s eye view of “The Cloud”, the CBD and the glorious harbour.

The original wharf was built of wood in 1852 and the current, constructed from concrete in the early 1900's. It was sold by the Auckland Port to the Council and is more a tourist place although work is needed .It does provide good views of the harbor.

What better on a fine sunny day than join in with the Queens birthdat celebrations at The Cloud this year. Old cycles, cars, food stalls, great atmosphere. We enjoyed the time out doing something different. I suggest anyone interested to keep an eye out for regularly different things to do and see there. Paul.

We had a wonderful afternoon and evening soaking up the atmosphere in the sunshine and watching the world go by. We had a sailing trip around the harbour booked at very short notice when we were able to take the helm. Afterwards we strolled around seeing the old fish market before choosing a restaurant for dinner. Clearly preparations for the America's Cup in 2021 in Auckland are well under way as there is an atmosphere of improvements under way. We will go back and visit the museum next time
