Enjoyed a 'staycation' in Auckland over the Easter Weekend and took the opportunity to be tourists in our own back yard. Walking over (and under) the bridge was a great way to see the city from a different angle. Educational as well as a fun thing to do. We stopped en route to the top to watch someone (not in our group) do a bungy jump before moving on to the top of the bridge. There were 8 people on our climb, all decked out in safety overalls and hard hats, as well as earpieces which allowed us to hear our entertaining guide, Dylan relaying his various facts - with varying degrees of truth (!!) No personal cameras allowed, but Dylan was armed with a camera and took pics which could be viewed / purchased at the end. Highly recommend - even for locals.

Really enjoyed this very interesting and safe climb. The lady leader (sorry we have forgotten her name in the panic next day of trying to find somewhere to stay safe) was friendly, informative and thoroughly professional. We even got to see a bungee jump close up - this was the nearest we were ever going to get to one !!
Would recommend to all ages as a must do whilst in Auckland.

There are not many places in the world where you can climb to the top of a bridge, especially one with such a great view. Sydney, Australia has such a bridge and that is a great climb. The climb to the top of the Auckland Harbour Bridge is just as good. Ok, so you aren't looking back at the Opera House, but the view of the Sky Tower and city skyline is pretty darn nice.

The climb is not too hard. I am 61, overweight, and not in the best of shape, but I was able to make it all the way to the top, about 450 steps total.

Will, our guide, was excellent with taking pictures as well as giving us a lot of information about the bridge.

And for those of you who may be afraid of heights, it wasn't that bad. You are always tethered to the bridge so there is no chance of falling off and the entire staff is focused on your safety.

A must-do for tourists and locals alike!
Friendly staff; adept at safety procedures and getting you all geared up for the climb.
Lockers for your belongings you can't take up with you (safety reasons).
The steps on the bridge were a little bit of a workout, but not too strenuous. Definitely worth the climb!
A pretty amazing feeling when you're up on the arch and the cars are whizzing beneath you!
Perfect weather, great views!
We had the bonus of stopping to watch a Bungy jumper on our way up!
We were probably on the bridge climb for 1 hr 15min, but allow 2 hrs all up for pre-climb prep & paperwork etc.
Great value!

This was simply great. I took my 83.5 year old mum with me and because she was a little slower than the younger ones, she was placed at the front with the guide, Kale, so she could set the pace for the group. She managed it all very well and I, who do not like getting higher than standing on a chair, found this climb quite easy for me. At all times I felt safe because there was a rail both sides to hang onto and we wore a harness which was clipped to a guide wire. Most of the walking was on the flat with a few times of steep stair climbing which was quite easy for us to do. Excellent value but the photographs were rather expensive- $45 for a bunch of them, so we didn't purchase any.

James, our guide was amazing!! Only downside was that we were meant to start at 2:30pm and we only started walking after 3pm.

Very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. The tour was great, we learnt loads of facts about the bridge and the city. The views were stunning. What spoilt it for us was not being able to take photos of the views. The official photos were good but we didn't want photos of us, we wanted the 360 degree views! We probably wouldn't have done the tour if we had known that we weren't allowed to take our cameras with us.

We decided to do the bridge climb on impulse as we had a voucher from the Entertainment Book & the weather looked like the best we would have in the four days we would be in Auckland. Unfortunately by the time we had got to the bridge, been kitted out and had the briefing, it was starting to cloud over. Whilst our guide knew a lot about the engineering of the bridge and it was interesting, the main point of our trip was to climb to the crest of the bridge and see the sights. We would have gladly skipped a lot of the talk and seeing one of the staff doing a bungy jump to have got out on the bridge sooner. By the time we did start the actual climb it had started to rain and the wind had really picked up - considerably lessening the experience. We were also really cold and wet especially as we had only been kitted out with fine weather gear.

My suggestion would be for the guide to have more flexibility to modify the schedule to suit the weather conditions (there was only my husband and I on the climb so IMHO he should have asked us what we wanted to do). I'm still glad we did it though.

Unfortunately Auckland does suffer from rapidly changing weather and this does present challenges. Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we will take your feedback on board.

As there are only 3 bridges in the world that you can climb, the Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland bridges we thought as we were on a cruise coming into Auckland and having already done the Storey Bridge in Brisbane we would give it a go. We booked on line which was slightly cheaper than booking from the ship. We actually walked from the ship, but a word of warning it is a little hard to find Curren St. as there are a couple of busy roadways in between the ship and the office. It isn't very far to walk though. a few kilometers
The staff at the bridge climb were very friendly and helpful. We were making a comparison between the Storey Bridge climb and this one and as much as they are different we thought that the Storey Bridge climb spent a lot more time looking at the safety aspect. That is not to say we felt unsafe, but there was a difference.
The climb itself is quite easy and we are middle aged people. The view at the top is wonderful and gives you an amazing view of Auckland, which of couse is lovely.
The bridge itself is interesting in that it has had an addition added to the original structure and it is a very clever engineering achievement
The thing we also enjoyed very much was actually watching a few people bungy jumping off the bridge while we were on the walk. They actually jump straight in front of you, so you can really see the whole exciting process.

It is a great activity! Anyone who can do a moderate walk can do this. There are some stairs, but it is not that steep or vigorous. The view is amazing!
