Combine your ferry trip to Rangitoto Island with a guided tour of the island on our 4WD road-train.Find out more about this unique volcano from our knowledgeable guides who provide fascinating commentary on the island's fiery past. You'll journey through rugged lava crops and native bush, while our guide talks to you about the history and geology of the island. The tour can only reach the base of the summit where it's a short walk to the summit along a wooden boardwalk with steps to the very top. After taking in the panoramic views, you rejoin the tour vehicle for the return trip to the wharf.

First day of our NZ holiday. A pleasant ferry ride to the island. Had the option of walking or a bumpy tractor / carriage ride, to reach the top. Choose the the bumpy tractor / carriage, but was entertained with an interesting commentary on the way. A short 10 minute walk up plenty of steps to the top to enjoy... More

Basically a tractor pulling an open-air carriage, this tour saves a lot of time & legwork when getting acquainted with Rangitoto Island. Meeting near the ferry pier, the tractor & carriage go up a side of the mountain before stopping at the start of a boardwalk. But don't sit at the very front of the carriage unless you want to... Having lived in Auckland for over 20 years I felt it was time I walked to the top of Rangitoto island. We jumped on the morning Fullers trip and after a short ferry ride we arrived on the shores of Rangitoto where we made our way to the top. It starts off as a very easy flat walk but this... More

Our group enjoyed a lovely trip to Rangitoto Island including an absolutely delicious lunch package organised by Sandie at Fullers. Once at Rangitoto we were met by our host for the day -John - awesome and very knowledgeable guy and despite the weather had a great time with a very informative commentary including a few laughs - well done guys.

If you enjoy bushwalking, photography and extinct volcanos, then this is a must do. Starts off with a half hour or so boat trip across Auckland harbour then a tractor hauls your carriage almost to the summit of the volcano. (So what if it was dusty on the way up! It was a very warm and sunny day so hiking... More

This was disorganized as the staff did not really know how to arrange the cruise tour. Add this to a face full of tractor exhaust and dust, you could probably do to as a self guided tour and see more relevant sights on the island. The Island itself is fantastic, just see if you can do it by yourself with... More

The tour it's self was okay.. made slightly worse by the fact that you're inhaling copious amounts of dust and you're covered in the stuff. A company overbooked so we were rushed up the mountain given less time at the top and then rushed back down the mountain to then have to wait around for the ferry for 50 minutes.... More

Wish I had done this differently! You can pick up $10 return tickets on fullers ferry online and not pay $65 each for the tour. If you head to the info sites you can pick up a booklet full of discounts 10% off fullers is one of them. The info the driver gave us was nearly all in the booklet... More

This was our first visit to Rangitoto so we decided to do the island tour. The ferry operaters weren't overly friendly, our ferry was due to leave at 12.15 and while we were waiting for our full group to arrive they told us that if the ferry was full they would go earlier, I'm suprised by this as if you've... The half day excursion includes the ferry trip to the island and an informative tour to the top, and around part of the coastline. To see the crater and highest point a short walk up a well-maintained boardwalk completes the adventure. The Island is predator-free and ancient lava fields are exposed amid the regenerating bush. A commentary is given by... More
