Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited here for the Ash Wednesday service and was surprised to see so many (c300 I would guess) people at a 7am mass. Sadly the church is not open outwith mass times due to vandalism - it’s a horrible reflection being felt throughout the world. Inside the church was bigger than I expected and I did feel welcome here. The service was good - not too long!! Well worth a visit

This was right in the heart of Auckland, and about a 15 minute walk from cruise port. I was so surprised there was a sign that it was closed most times out of mass, but as I was getting ready to leave, the doors opened about 15 minutes before mass time so I got to go in and look around. Don't expect the huge cathedrals like Europe. it was on the smaller size and not much ornate decoration. But it was a nice walk-aound.

Such a peaceful beautiful church to have a quiet time in the middle of busy Auckland city. Admire the stained glass windows.
NZ is a young country, but this is a bit similar to the European cathedrals.
Light a candle and sit and reflect. If you are feeling generous, leave a donation. The restoration was expensive.

Upon our arrival to Auckland from the US we wanted to give thanks to our Lord for getting us there safely - St. Patrick’s Cathedral is so welcoming and spiritually uplifting. We lit a candle as well in memory of our parents and in thanks for watching over us in our travels.

Stumbled upon this as I walked to the Sky Tower. Hidden gem. I stepped in to light a candle and say a prayer. I ended up staying for a glorious mass. It was a celebration of love in observance of St. Valentine's Day. Beautiful cathedral of St Patrick and St Joseph.

Since we passed by the church we decided to have a look into the cathedral. It is actually a nice church but nothing special

One of the most beautiful church in NZ! Located next to SkyTower in the CBD, parking might be a problem but there are plenty paid parking available near by.

A place worth visiting for its architerual beauty. The high ceilings gives one a sense of how old buildings used to be built. The coloured glass holy pictures on the sides are worth a look.

This church is a beautiful inner city place to go visit. It's surrounded by a lovely place to sit. It's a great place to walk around and go to church.

A pity that this rather splendid building is hemmed in amongst the city office block zone. Inside the simple layout and furnishings are untypical of the Catholic Church, (and the better for that). Some nice colourful stained glass is worth observing, and simple displays chart the relatively short history of the cathedral.
