On Saturday, November 12, 2016, John took us to several wineries and the magnificent Black Sand Beaches. Mata's rose bushes at the first vineyard were amazing. At the Black Sand Beaches thousands and thousands of ganett (sp?) birds were nesting. I loved watching these large birds gracefully spread their wings to be lifted effortlessly by the wind. The next day,... More

This was the first wine tour I've ever been to and it was totally amazing. It was very interesting to try all the different wines, to visit beautiful locations (the black beach was awesome) and to learn so many things from John about Auckland, New Zealand and wines. Thank you for that beautiful day!

John McFarlane took us on the Villa Maria Estate Scenic Vineyard Odyssey. This was a brilliant introduction to our first visit to NZ. John is knowledgable in NZ history, global affairs, Auckland in general and wines. He was prepared to answer our many questions. He is a thoroughly interesting guide. We saw One Tree Hill, and had a tour of... More

Party of 4 spent the day with tour owner John on the island of Waiheke. John picked us up at our CBD hotel, drove the van onto the ferry for the ride to the island. Upon arrival, we visited 4 quality wineries and an olive oil business. He made lunch suggestions and once we decided on the option he made... More

It sounds cliche after you read all of these reviews, but John truly was one of a kind in how he sets up the day long experience. His knowledge of NZ, the wine scene, history, and anything else you want to talk about is truly unique and amazing. He blended together history, nature, and wine, without boring you and making... This tour was incredible! John picked up the four of us from our hotel in Auckland CBD at exactly the agreed upon time where we joined two more tourists for a total of six for the day. He gave us a verbal overview of our day and spent a few minutes showing us the beautiful beaches near Mission Bay as... More

John is an amazing guide with exceptional knowledge about New Zealand. He took us to 3 different wineries as well as the Muriwai Gannet Colony at the west coast of Auckland. At the end of the tour John even took us to a local supermarket and showed us which wines/Manuka honey would be worthy to buy. All in all, it... More

We took the Vineyards Honey & Black sand beaches tour today and found it to be wonderful! John was a fabulous and accommodating guide and is knowledgeable in a surprising number of areas such as New Zealand politics, agriculture, customs and general enquiries about life on New Zealand. We visited three lovely vineyards where we got to try several different... More

We had an awesome wine tour yesterday. John was incredibly responsive to emails leading up to our visit and was at the hotel waiting for us the moment we arrived from our flight. He provided great commentary on our ride to the three wineries. We tasted fabulous wine, and he brought a delicious local cheese tray to hold us over... More
