We found this museum full of fascinating item, relating to the history of New Zealand and the culture through the ages. The museum also contains the war memorial and museum, and shows what a large contribution New Zealand made during these times of conflict

Visited the museum in between the two Hop On tours. We were discounted 20% being bus passengers costing NZ$40 entrance fee. The exhibits are on three floors and it is a bit of a maze. All floors were very interesting. There are plenty of seats for the weary which I availed myself off on many occasions. We spent an enjoyable... More

Didn't go in as the cost was prohibitive! Had been once before many many years ago and wanted to show my husband the war memorial section of the museum, but at that cost, you must be joking!

The museum is a good insight into NZ and is a fine way to spend a few hours. Great location overlooking the city too, and some interesting gardens close by. HOWEVER... unless you're an Aucklander (and have applied for a special card), it seems to get more pricey by the year! Being expected to pay $25 for attractions that have... More

I've known this Museum since I was a child. It still fascinates. It still re-invents itself. Presiding over Auckland, the Auckland War Memorial Museum is one of the great museums of the world. While some of the classic displays, particularly in the Maori Hall, are very familiar to me, there are just three things I go to see whenever I... More

We spent three hours here which is amazing with two small children. The building is massive,we went early in the morning and it was quiet so we had plenty of time to wander around.Very interesting and relaxing. So much to take in.

If you like some history this is a must do. A good walk through the city but has a bus service. We used Uber there and walked back. The Maori content was fantastic, interactive and well displayed. Loved some of the video perspectives as well. It has a lot in the museum to see. We did the natural and War... More

Coming from Europe, the beautifully crafted objects of the Pacific people can look very exotic and uniquely mesmerizing. I haven't seen much of the art of this area in any other collection or museum outside of New Zealand. It's a must-visit if you want to be up close with the artifacts of the Pacific for the first time in your... More

Wonderful combination of historical events and cultural development. Good presentation of the Maori society, early European settlements of the country and military involvement in global wars.
