I visited Auckland for business but took some extra leave to do this walk. My ambition is to (mostly) run it in future but I walked it quite quickly mostly because I was tight for time. I agree that the signage is not obvious/easy to...More

Not the main Coast-to-Coast Walkway but a great Auckland coastal walk. Starting from Takapuna (convenient car park area at the bottom of the Promenade) the walk to Milford Bay takes 45 minutes for the average walker. It does, however, have some challenging rock area during...More

I would recommend that everyone who visits Auckland does this walk. The 16km walk takes you from Onehunga to the Viaduct Harbour (or vice-versa but I'd recommend finishing in the city) and you pass through or near most of TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet's top "Things...More

We were really looking forward to doing this portion of the Te Araroa Trail through Auckland City. Alas the signage is very poor - we spent majority of our time looking for the signs, which were inconsistent at best & often missing or hidden at...More

Amazing walk. Took us 4 hours and we didn't rush. Signs were easy to follow. I would suggest onehunga- Auckland way as you can see the sky tower if you get lost haha.

An absolutely free and marvelous way to explore Auckland. A vigorous walk with urban scenery, volcano hikes, monuments, parks and seaside. What's not to like? Bring a well charged phone or map in case you need to orient yourself to find the trail.

A great way to view Auckland and to get fit at the same time. More healthy than a Hop on a Bus Experience! No need to rush - enjoy!

16 km in 4 hours...well it took us way longer, but only because the viewing points were soooo amazing, that we had no other option than to take at least 100 photos. So if you wanna see a little bit more of Auckland than just...More

I visit family every year from the UK, and have now done this walk about four times in each direction. I would agree about the signs (I am just back from today's walk and still went wrong once), so a map is a must for...More

No, you don't need to book. It is something you can do on your own, as it is a walk across the city and some parks. However, try to find a decent map, as the signs are lacking and you can add a lot of mileage if you get... More
