This is a great little walk and a way to see both some of the major sites as well as some that are not so well known. In general the path is well marked with a few exceptions like a stretch around the university. However, go to the i-site near pier 5 and ask for the free city map. The... More

About 16 km of walking with only two main sites of interest along room, One Tree Hill and Mount Eden, but they both give great views over Auckland. There is a lot of walking on pavement by road and little through green space, except Cornwall park. The most disappointing thing is that if you start at the east (where you... More

We were advised to start the walk from Onehunga and I was glad we did. Coming from the viaduct side is more steeper. The walk takes you through residential streets, several parks with great views of Auckland. It took us a leisurely four and a half hours with lunch at the winter garden in Auckland domain the 13 km point.... More

You don't have to do it all on one day. But using it as a path, it's a great way to see the city. Make sure to take a map as signage is practically non-existent.

We did this walk on what Kiwis called a hot day, but not too bad, with lots of shade. The walk itself was excellent, with great views from Mt Eden, lovely parks like Albert Park, and lots of lovely homes in the various suburbs. However, signage left something to be desired, especially coming off Mt Eden, causing us to walk... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the walk. We started at the ferry dock in the city center and finished at Onehunga. Like other reviewers, we often lost the way. There are frequent signs when you do not need them, but rarely a sign when there is a critical decision to make. But, these are city and suburban streets, not some wild back... More

This is such a good way to get fit, see the views and get intimate with Auckland's volcanic cones. Take the bus back to the start at the end

This could have been one of the best things to do in Auckland but it appears that Auckland is really NOT serious about attracting tourists. We decided to get a taxi to the top of Mt Eden and then use the walkway to go into the city. Probably the best way to see the city sights etc has been totally... More

We walked Ferry Building to Onetunga direction, which is west to east. The distance is 16 Km, and our reasonably fit 11 and 14 year olds had no troubles. The hardest thing about this walk is finding out about it. The Auckland iSite at the Sky Tower did not even mention it when I asked for "a city walk". Thankfully... More
