Whether you're here on a Saturday for the Farmers Market, or just stopping on the way through to another destination, Matakana has a lovely vibe about it. Recently we enjoyed a day at the beach, followed by a beer, cider and ice cream in the...More

Great variety here for the Saturday market with honey, olive oil, pies, coffee, sandwiches, wraps, to name a few of the things here. Especially Roger selling his local honey was very knowledgable and has a very warm smile and a lovely personality

~70km north of Auckland Matakana is a great place to visit, on Saturdays they have a great Farmers Market which is well worth a visit, otherwise there is plenty of eating and drinking options and a cute river.

This was a very nice, albeit somewhat overpriced farmers market. Full and friendly on a Saturday morning, the stalls were packed with the varied comestibles that the well-heeled and largely middle-aged folks from the vacation retreats nearby yearned for. The food was delicious...fresh breads, cheeses,...More

While exploring north of Auckland we stumbled upon this village and the farmers market. Great lunch and wonderful wooden serving board as a permanent reminder of our trip. Also went to Takata winery without an appointment and had a wonderful time tasting wine.
