Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was on a cruise recently stopped off in Napier as a port destination which was really nice. Went to the Wine Centre to enquire about preservative free wines to take back on board the ship. The lady asked me what I was allergic to and told her Sulphites 220, she replied am I sure it's not 202, I should know my allergy, was not impressed. I was recommended to try this place by the NZ I site desk. I ended up going across the road to another wine store, the lady there was a lot more helpful and accomodating and new exactly what I was after and recommended some places in Wellington.

I spent a really enjoyable afternoon in the wine centre tasting local wines, chatting and enjoying the ambience of this really pleasant space. It's centrally located, so you can stroll here a d stagger home if need be. I did the grand tasting- 6 wines, all local, and a cheese plate. Then I did it again, minus the cheese! The grad course was $25, and there were two other courses- one with white wines only a wine video (?), and one with no cheese. The wines were really lovely, nicely presented with passion and knowledge, and there were just too many to choose from! It would be nice to see a wider range of tastings or Masterclasses. The lovely lady certainly has the knowledge to do the wines justice. I also bought a lovely Chardonnay to take home.

A great little stop to add to the Napier experience. We had a very well travelled assistant who helped us pick a few wines to try and also talked to us about the local wines and the area as a whole. There was an education area too which was enjoyable. We bought some at the end which topped the day.

Myself my husband and daughter did a wine tasting here two of us red and one of us white. It was all very pleasant with a small plate of cheese however I didn't feel very informed and certainly didn't learn anything new about New Zealand wine which was a disappointment.

This was a great place to get some information about NZ wine. They have an aroma room with samples of the smells in wines. They was also a room to explain the varieties. The other room was mostly sales and it would have been nice to see a general booklet to help orientate us but there was only information about participating vineyards. All up worth a visit though and its in the CBD.

Lovely building. Interesting 'smell' room experience.
We had a complementary two wine tasting, because we were staying at the super hotel across the street.
Sadly we felt the staff were dismissive, and couldn't be bothered with us. Shame, we are wine drinkers, with money to spend.

If you're pressed for time but would like to explore a wide range of NZ wines, this is a good place to visit. Familiarise yourself with notes in the 'aroma room' and go on to taste a range of reds or whites whilst watching a video about the wines in the on site cinema. Large selection of local wines for sale.

I popped into the NZ Wine Centre to enjoy the delights of the recent Spring Toast and gather up some Hawkes Bay wine treasure to take home. The centre was laid out in a tasting round-robin and I had wonderful parlay with all the stand controllers, who were knowledgeable and helpful. There was one particular lady who measured my palate straight away, she produced several ideas to help me shop for my taste which was lovely. The ladies packaged up my considerable haul quickly and carefully, added a smart last-minute selection to round out my loot and then delivered it for me to my accommodation so I could escape to do more shopping in Napier. Lovely experience and especially enjoyed speaking to a local vintner about his winery and their vintages - lovely afternoon! I will definitely be back.
