We visited late on a Tuesday afternoon and were quite overwhelmed by the immense amount of history, for quite a young country. Very well presented, and set in beautiful grounds, the $40 entry fee was soon forgotten as we immersed ourselves into the story of New Zealand. We didn't quite get all the way round, but the helpful staff informed... More

A historical spot in a beautiful location overlooking the bay of islands. Arrived early before the crowds ( inc cruise ships ) arrived and much better experience I think as it looks rightly to be very popular. It looks like a lot of money has been spent recently and museum and buildings are all well maintained and very informative. Provided... More

This is a wonderful place to visit. We had an excellent guide who was informative & entertaining, the whole site is appealing & well maintained, the grounds splendid, good cafe & shop. The new museum was fascinating, we spent ages there but still didn't see everything. Our visit was both very enjoyable & informative, it was good to get an... More

We arrived by ferry from Russell expecting a basic treaty grounds as we only decided to go at the last minute. We were surprised at the scale of the complex, and very impressed. We took the 11 am guided tour, which finishes just in time for the cultural show. We were very impressed with both! The tour was informative and... More

At $40 the price may seem steep, but it's worth it: the tour was fantastic (I think our tour guide was 'John' or 'Johnny', and he was great), and the cultural show was good fun: in true kiwi style, it was delivered with humour and does not pretend to be anything other than an excellent but brief overview of some... Highly recommends. This is where today's NZ started and the history of the treaty and the relationship between NZ and Britain is well documented. Do go all in one is reinvested and the day we went it was packed with school children's learning their history.

The Waitangi Treaty Grounds is a very worthwhile place to see while in the Bay of Islands. A great view into history and Maori culture.

This was worth the price. Had a great tour of the Treaty Grounds and the new museum is worth a look. We were also lucky to return on Waitangi Day. Thoroughly recommend.
